It's near Christmas and my Dad gave us each some money to buy gifts. Usually all the SWAT families buy for their own family members and then we put everyone's name into a hat and each person draws a name out of the hat and buys for that specific person also a gift. This afternoon and tonight we all come together to draw the names while we have a huge barbeque at my Mom's Uncle Olof and also our Alpha's house. It's always so much fun and we try to buy useful gifts or sometimes quite funny gifts, but also usually expensive gifts. This year I'm a little apprehensive to see all our friends. By now all of them would know that I'm leaving school because of my high IQ and the recommendation of the school board and also Uncle Olof as the Alpha of the pack. Morgana, Sapphire, Omar and Enzo talked to me already and think it's fantastic, but I do Anika and Armando doesn't like the idea at all. Anika was plain rude to me the last few times at kickboxing and also at school, but never in front of other people, always where no one can hear her. This morning Armando said I shouldn't think I'm better than him now because I'm going to have a hard time getting used to the real world like he called it. So I'm going to this barbeque with the idea of being made fun of and laughed at. I'm sure some of them will try to rattle me and make me second guess me and my parent's decision, but I'll just show them I can be mature about it. When we get to Uncle Olof's little hide away like he calls it, I take the one picnic basket from my Mom and start to walk through the courtyard gate when I see the two rows of friends on both sides of the gate. In front across from each other holding hands high above their heads with palm leaves are Omar and Sapphire, then Enzo and Cassie, Katya and Roy, Lilith and Carlo, Raven and Romano, Stephan and low and behold a glowing Morgana, I just knew they we're soul mates, then Armando and Anika and Diego. The adults are all sitting at tables laughing and clapping hands. Shouts go out like "Little genius, clever girl, new you had it in you, baby genius" and many more similar things.

I only laugh and shake my head. "Really are you guy's crazy. It's nothing abnormal you know. Leave me alone and rather discuss our Christmas party and the food." They all laugh about my shyness, but I see Anika and Armando don't like the attention I get one bit. Later while the men are next to the barbeque I see my Dad and Diego talk and Diego looks up to me. I wonder what they are talking about. Not long after that aunt Odette asks me to go down to the herb garden and pick her certain herbs for the salad. She gives me a basket and sends me off. As I pick the herbs I feel eyes on me and look up. Diego is standing at the gate of the garden with his hands in his pockets. Today he's looking extremely good to me and I don't even realize that I'm staring until he speaks to me. "You should take a picture it will last longer you know?"
