Chapter 3: Attack of the Fire Maiden

          I headed to school like any normal day. At the corner of my street, there was amelia and amanda waiting for me as normal. "Sup Luce" Amanda said with her same old cheeky smile. "Good morning Lucien" Amelia said with a more genuine smile. We started walking after I said hello back. "How is training going?" Amanda asked. I sighed and said "I've gotten good with my sword and my armor but other than that I've just been hitting roadblock after roadblock." Amanda patted me on the back and said "don't worry, im sure you will become better, it just takes time." It wasn't often that Amanda said somethong nice and genuine like that. She is normally overly silly and joking, so I smiled at her in appreciation.
          We got to school and hung out in the cafeteria before class "I still cant believe you have real super powers" Amelia said quietly "it is quite unreal" Amanda added. "Well be quiet about it, the fact that you two know already puts you in danger, not to mention Amelia's parents" I responded.
          After that we went our seperate ways for our 1st hour classes. I was in the back of the class drawing as normal. I had the idea to create a mask. If I ever got into a fight I would want to conceal my identity. The mask was made of a thin stainless steel alloy, and it was made to mold around the wearers face and change their eye color.
          As I was drawing, the teacher came to my desk. "So Lucien, since you have the free time to draw, can you tell us the answers to the warm ups?" This angered me. She and I both knew that I knew the answers and that I had an A in the class but she still treated me like some sort of delinquent. I looked at her and gave her the answers "330 pi meters squared, 1346.7 inches squared and 487 feet squared" they were simple answers, this was geometry after all.
          After that, class proceeded as normal until about the middle of 4th hour. I had this hour with Amanda and Amelia so I could talk to them. "So Luce, you got any new drawings to show us? Maybe something new for your armory?" I nodded in response, and I pulled out my sketchbook. I opened it up to a pretty good drawing of some throwing knives "they are throwing knives with potent poison magic, they are probably too hard to summon right now though"
          A little bit into the lesson, we heard people screaming "monster!! Run!!" I acted quickly. As everyone left the room to see what was going on, I left through the window and ran to an area where nobody in the school could see me. I peaked out the corner and saw a woman shooting fire with a large, monstrous wolf made of fire standing next to her.
          It took a full 15 seconds but I managed to summon my sword and armor. I tried summoning the mask. It required intense focus and some luck but I managed to summon it on the second try. After I put it on, I heard the woman shout with a demonic voice "where is he!? Where is the creator!?" I acted quick. I wanted to take her down before she could cause more harm. I ran out without warning and sneak attacked her. However, her wolf jumped in the way of my blade as I slashed it in half.
          She turned around to see me "are you the creator?" She asked, she looked over my armor "yes you are, those mana marks from creation magic on your armor is a clear sign." This was bad, from what I had summed up about her, she is good with her powers not to mention decently intelligent. 'This might be a tough fight' I thought.
          I dashed at her with my speed boost and attempted to strike but she blasted fire in my face. I was sure I was about to get burned, but I felt some sort of power take over me. Without hesitation, I stabbed my blade into the ground and used it, along with my momentum, to maneuver out of the way of the fire and kick her in the face.
          I landed my foot on the ground and ripped my sword out. That power went away, but I had no intention of giving her a chance for a counterattack. I quickly dashed at her and she shot her fire again, but this time, I expected it. I kept my self low to the ground, and I dived between her legs. As I went through, I slashed her leg. When I landed, I shot up, and I stabbed her in the back.
          She screamed in pain, and then fire started circling around her, ready to burst. I jumped back before she could hit me with her fire, and then I prepared for her next attack. To my surprise, she stood up straight and laughed "this is quite fun, despite how short of a time you've had your powers you're actually pretty good, but you are nothing compared to me"
She prepared to dash at me, but right before she did, she was punched in the face by Amanda. "What the hell!?" The woman said rubbing her face. Amanda was pissed "Amanda what the hell do you think you're doing!? Get out of here!!" I yelled. She clenched her fists and said "I may not have any magic but I'm not gonna sit back as she destroys this school!" She responded.
          I growled in anger but I knew there was no stopping her "just try not to get killed!" I shouted. The woman screamed as she shot a blast of fire at her. I dashed over and blocked it with my sword and my armor. After that, Amanda ran at her saying "prepare to attack" as she ran by. She grabbed her by the arm and collar and threw her towards me. I took the chance and dashed towards her, stabbing her in the chest with my blade.
          She grabbed my shoulder and burned it, causing me to pull back and let her free. "You got a lucky shot kid!" The woman said "but remember this, I, The Fire Maiden want your head, and next time, I wont fail!" She screamed before disappearing in a blaze of fire. After that we left the scene as police began arriving.
I took Amanda's hand and began running. I saw Amelia and she signaled me so I grabbed her too.
          We headed off to my house and when we got in I got rid of my armor and sword. I dropped to the ground and almost passed out "this is insane... I can't beleive... there is other people... who are that strong" I said in between breaths.
          After that, the girls carried me to bed and headed home. I went to sleep, glad that this whole day was over. As I fell into unconsciousness I had one thought in my mind 'I need to get stronger...'
