Chapter 6: A Relaxing Break

          Over a month had passed and it was decided by the school district to just start summer break early since they couldn't predict if this would happen again in the next month before summer. I was in my basement, training like crazy. It had been such a short time since I had gained these powers, but it was starting to become second nature to me. I was swinging around my sword like normal, then I suddenly heard my doorbell ring.
          I put my stuff away, and I went upstairs to open the door. When I opened the door, I saw the girls wearing nice sundresses. This wasn't too weird for Amelia, she wore girly stuff like this all the time but I looked over at Amanda, who was far more embarassed. She never wore sundresses or skirts or anything girly like that.
          "What are you two doing here?" I asked. Amelia smiled and said "you have been training so much so we wanted to take you out to have some fun and relax" I then looked over at Amanda, and before I could even ask, she said "I lost a bet to Amelia, alright." I smiled at her and laughed a little, she was never one to turn down a bet, and it was her ultimate weakness. I looked at Amelia and said "well I'm not working at all today so I'm free, just let me get changed"
          I went to my room, and I changed from my dirty t-shirt and shorts to a clean black collared shirt and dark jeans. I brushed my hair, grabbed my glasses, and headed out. "Where are we going?" I asked. Amelia responded "first we are gonna go get some ice cream, and then we will go to the mall, and then just for you, we'll be going to lazer tag." I smiled at them and said "thank you very much, but you didn't have to go all out"
          The girls looked back and Amanda said "don't be so modest Luce. you're a bonafide hero! You deserve this" I didn't really know what to say, I was just doing what I felt was right. After awhile we got our ice cream and sat down. We talked for awhile about random topics. At one point Amanda said "man am I glad the fire maiden is gone, otherwise she would melt all our ice cream" we laughed and then I said "by the way, i forgot to tell you, but thank you for saving me at the last minute there and taking her out"
          She hugged me and said "no problem Luce, you mean too much to me and Amelia for me to let you die." This was weird, she had only ever hugged me twice. Amelia looked mad for a second and hugged me too and said "well, I'm thankful for you letting us help, and for you saving everyone" they were staring each other down for some reason. I looked at them and asked "uh... could you let go?" They did as I asked and laughed it off.
          I wanted to ask them what was up, but I was too afraid of sounding rude so I just let it go. We finished our ice cream and walked to the mall. I did my typical thing of making puns, jokes, and referencing memes to make us all laugh as we walked. I was always the comedic one of the group, and they enjoyed it. We made it to the mall and started looking around.
           I looked at some new anime clothes at hot topic while the girls looked at some stuff. I had gotten three shirts and a hat. The girls didn't buy anything exept for a pack of pocky. "Jesus christ, we're weebs" Amanda said, and we all laughed in response. We walked around and bought various things. We passed by a shop and amelia noticed a dress, she looked at it and saw the price. I saw her look at her wallet and sigh. She whispered "I knew I should've brought more." I felt sad for her and asked "how much does it cost?" She shook her head and said "you don't need to buy it Lucien, im fine without it."
          "Nonsense" I said, walking in. I paid for the dress and gave it to her. "Thank you very much Lucien, but you really didn't need to do that" I gave a soft smile and said "it's fine, you're doing so much for me, it's only fair I do something for you" we then headed to lazer tag and waited for our turn to go in. I was very exited. I loved lazer tag since I was a kid and my new found combat instincts will probabably give me an advantage.
          We went in and got our stuff. Luckily, we were all on the same team. A horn blew, indicating us to start. This place was different from most other lazer tag places. The walls were padded and their was more open area and mobility, so there wasn't a 'do not run, jump, or climb' rule. I ran in, signalling the girls to follow. The game mode was called capture the flag, so we needed to get across the arena, take their flag, and get back without being shot
          We got to the high ground and defended the flag as I formulated a strategy. There were 3 paths to the flag.  We could approach through the center and try to overpower them, we could hide at the very right and try to flank them, or we could run through the hallways of the buildings and try and come at them from above. I saw most people going for a center attack or flanking from the right, so I figured our best strstegy was to go the route least travelled and surprise them from above.
          I informed the girls that we would go from above, we would jump down and shoot them and grab the flag, me and Amanda would defend the fastest runner, Amelia. We would also lay down fire on others trying to stop us. After we were done planning, we ran into action. Things went according to plan. We got across undetected and jumped down.
          There were three people gaurding the flag and we caught them by surprise. We shot them and grabbed the flag, heading out. We ran and dodged the fire of other blasters.  Soon, we made it past the our teammates who were trying to get the flag originally, and upon seeing Amelia with the flag, they ran to our aid and helped protect her, while others ran ahead to stop anyone from getting our flag. Soon, we had claimed victory.
          We all laughed and high fived each other "nice job as our runner Amelia" I said, giving her a hug. "thank you, you did a great job protecting me" She responded nervously. We were congratulated by our other teammates and then we took off our gear. After that, we ate some food at the snack area, and then we headed home. We all walked back as we laughed and talked. We reached my house and I said "thanks you guys, seriously. I really needed this. I've been so cooped up in my training that I forgot to have fun every now and then."
          They went back to their houses, arguing about something I couldn't hear as they left. I sat down on my couch, exhausted from the day. I layed down, and I went to sleep...
