Peter slowly regained colour in his face.

'Are you feeling better?' May asked as she re-entered with a cup of water for him, 'You're still a bit pale, so drink up'. Peter nodded, 'Thanks...' he croaked.

3 hours later, Miss Jones returned. Peter quickly sits up - a bit too fast- with his eyes wide. 'Ahh!' he says, wincing as he accidentally hurt himself.

'Hey, careful!' Miss Jones says as she runs over to him.

'MJ...' he whispered as she knelt next to his bed.

'Well-uh- I'll just leave you two alone' May said as she got up and left the room.

Peter smiled a 'Thanks' to her as she closed the door. He turned back to Miss Jones, 'MJ? I haven't seen you since-'

'I was elected decathlon team captain' she finished. Peter scratched the back of neck, 'Y-Yeah...' he said nervously.

'I-I missed you' she smiled, at him. His eyes went wide, 'Y-You missed me?' his

'Yeah...' she gave him a soft smile.

'Me too. Wait-no- I didn't miss me too-' he put his head to his hands, 'Wow I'm stupid' he mumbled to himself. He looked up and tried to regather himself he stuttered nervously, 'I-I- missed you too Michelle', he smiled as she blushed.

She noticed he subconsciously hand a hand over his wound. She gently put her hand on top of his, 'You nearly died Peter'. He looked at her comfortingly, 'I know, but I rather it be me then May...'

'I-I'm talking about in the surgery room...' Michelle continued, tears forming in her eyes. He looked at her, confused.

'W-What happened in the surgery room?' he asked quietly.

'D-During the operation... Y-Your heart stopped...' she was now crying, the memory of the surgery pained her to think about. She could have lost him there, someone she's always loved -even though he didn't know- die right in front of her...

'Miss Jones! He needs blood, now!'

'On it!' she nervously replied, her hands were shaking. 'Pull it together Michelle' she mumbled to herself. She prepared the blood transfusion in a hurry.

She passed the equipment to Dr. Richard, she wasn't yet certified to administer a blood transfusion, despite her completing her training.

Michelle looked at Dr. Richard with a confused expression as he only put half a pint.

'W-'

'-I can't put too much stress on his body, he is very fragile at the moment' he cut off.

She nodded, 'Yes Sir'. Michelle turned to dispose of the needle and transfusion tube,  but as she put the needle in the 'Sharps' bin she heard rapid beeping behind her. She turned and gasped as she saw Peter was seizing. She quickly disposed of the needle and tube, placing the blood aside carefully, then rushed over to Peter. 'W-What's going on?', her lip quivered as she spoke. The doctor reached for a needle to stop the seizure, but he was interrupted by a long beep from the monitor, 'He's flatlining, get me the defibrillators!' his other assistant immediately reached for them. He instantly placed the pads on Peter. Michelle tried to hold back tears, but failed, 'Don't go Peter... Stay...Please...'

Dr. Richard continued to shock Peter, his body continuously falling limp back onto the table. 'James!' the other assistant turned to Dr. Richard, 'Put it up to 360 joules. Now!'

'Yes Sir' he replied, even though he looked calm Michelle could tell both James and Dr. Richard were panicking. After all, this was the highest they could administer, this was Peter's last chance to wake up...

Michelle looked up to the sound of steady beeping. Everyone in the room sighed in relief.

'Then Dr. Richard finished the operation and you were okay' Michelle smiled through her tears.

Peter sat back. 'D-Does May know?...' he said, still with his weak and husky voice, 'Does she know that I-that I flatlined?'. Michelle shook her head, 'They haven't told her yet'

Peter sat in shock.

'Mr Parker?' a voice asked, he looked up to see a boy, roughly his age, standing at the door. He had straight brown hair, darker than Peter's, a chiseled jaw and bright blue eyes. 'Y-Yes?' Peter replied.

'My name is James. I'm an assistant of Dr. Richard. He's called me to give you an assessment, but it seems Michelle is always a step ahead like always' he smiled at Michelle, and she blushed. 'Uh- actually I haven't given him an assessment. Peter and I used to go to school together, we were just catching up' Michelle explained

'Oh, ok. I can come back later, when you two have finished?' he said.

'No it's ok babe. He's going to be here a while, I can continue after.'

The word babe ringing in Peter's ears, then he realised. Michelle and James are boyfriend and girlfriend. His heart broke. Here he was about to confess to her that he's loved her all this time, and she had a boyfriend.

'Ok' James nodded, he turned to Peter, 'Are you ok with that Mr. Parker?', brought back from his thoughts Peter responded, 'W-What is it you'll be doing exactly?'

'Nothing that requires too much strength. Just reflexed and checking your vitals.'

Peter nodded, 'Ok, cool'

Michelle got up to leave, 'Talk to you later Peter!' she said as she closed the door.

Peter noticed as soon as she left James became more relaxed. 'How are you feeling?'

'I've been better, but not too bad' Peter responded.

'You took quite the hit' he said, pulling out a large needle.

'I thought you said reflexes and vitals?' Peter asked looking confused, as to why he would need such a large needle for that.

'Mhmm' Peter's spider senses were tingling, he had a feeling James wasn't the good guy he made himself out to be. When Peter realised what James was doing, it was already too late...
