Chapter 12

"I'm starving." I tell my teammates at lunch. Like I said we only eat a granola bar for lunch.

"Did you have your protein shake?" Maggie asked. We all have a protein shake before school for breakfast. We all get a bag of the mix and we get a new one every month.

"No. I was almost late to school so I couldn't." I told Maggie and the team.

"Oh. You need to eat." She told me.

"I know. But I can't get off the diet." I tell them. For breakfast we all drink a protein shake. For lunch is a granola bar. For dinner we can eat anything.

"It's okay. You will survive." My teammates tell me.

"No I won't. Last time of us got off the diet their whole soccer performance was off. We need to be exactly how we always are. If me eating something would cost us a game, I'll take one for the team and be hungry." I said.

"Okay. But just be careful. You do know that if you pass out you can't play, so just be careful." Cassie told me.

"Okay. No problem. I've done it be-" I told them but I stopped myself. I was going to say 'before'. It's true. I've starved myself. Jut for a week because it took me 10 minutes do do a mile. I take 5 or less to finish. I stopped myself to not worry my teammates. Only one person on the team knows about that her name is Leslie. The bell rang indicating lunch was over.

"Bye girls. She you at the gym at 2:25. Don't be late. Love ya!" I tell them.

----- Practice time -----

I'm at the gym with Jacob. Doing something that no one should really be seeing. We are here 15 minutes early so we will be okay, the perks of being captains.

"Are you guys done?" A football player asked.

"Uh? Oh um yeah. I guess we are now." I got out if my mouth.

"Jackson what the hell do you want? why are you here so early?" he said.

"I wanted to make sure I wasn't late because I always tend to be late. So here I am." He said as he pointed to the ground.

"Okay. If you say a thing about what you saw you will be sprinting until you can't feel your legs." Jacob told Jackson with a serious look on his face.

"Okay I won't unless I get a turn." he told Jacob. next thing you know a fist was flying at his face.

"Why the hell would you say that?!?" Jacob asked.

"I was kidding bro. Take a joke." Jackson said.

"If you do that again you will regret it for the rest if your life." he old Jackson.

"I wouldn't expect anything less." he told him.

By the time that was over football and soccer players were getting into the gym. Everyone was on time.

"Okay. First off hey guys excited to be sore from the insane workout?" I told the football jocks.

"I was born ready." Jackson said.

"Okay. So here are the partners..."

"You better get along with your partner because you will be spending a lot of time with her/him." Jacob said.

"You had to give me this little fucker?!?" Cassie said with anger in her eyes. She got paired with Eric, the guy she raced.

"We made the partners before your guys race. Don't get mad. Something good can come out of this." Jacob said with a boyish smirk.

"Ew no. I wouldn't think to hook up with this piece of shit. I'm to good for him." Cassie said.

"Sure you are babe." Eric said with a smirk. Which caused him to get a slap to the face by Cassie.

"You guys have to work something out because this is your partner that you will drive to the camp and you will be competing against your partner." I told everyone but mostly to Cassie and Eric. I finished it with a friendly smile.

"Today is Wednesday. We will start on Monday. You need to spend the rest if the week with your partner and get to know then and maybe their weaknesses to defeat them." Jacob announced.

"Yes. Everyone keep meeting here from now one. Until Monday we will be doing a competitive camp, and it will be every person for themselves." I tell both teams which gets a big smile across all their faces.

"Remember everything we said and you can go home." Jacob said.
