Avoiding my phone as much as possible,
I tried to continue on with life.Sandra was such a star. Always there for me whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on, or a good rant.
Kyle and Jasmine must have fell of the face of the earth. To me, that was great news. I couldn't handle them in any other state than 'missing'.
As for me, I knew it was time to treat myself to a good weekend away, since Christmas was coming up. Maybe I could get some Christmas shopping done whilst away.
Writing a little note to Sandra, as I never knew when she was around lately. I briefly explained I was going out of town for a weekend and would be only reached by text or phone call.
Grabbing my little suitcase, I began to wheel it out the apartment before locking up. Reaching the elevator, I pressed 'G' and began to slowly descend. The mechanical whirls and thuds of the elevator started up , and soon I was downstairs.
Once all set to go, I turned my car on, and set it into reverse. Backing out, I felt a sense of relief and a wave of happiness that I finally had time to myself. Passing all the over-decorated Christmas shopping windows, it made me wonder, where would I spend this Christmas and with whom? Family or friends..
Normally after a loved one passes they won't celebrate Christmas that year.
I had spent enough time being upset over Gabriel's death, I wanted to celebrate Christmas.
That was final.-
The journey up North was quit difficult as it was snowing quite heavily. Not being prepared, I knew it was time to pull over into a gas station. Parking my car, I quickly shuffled inside to the gas station which has a connected dinner.
Thank god.
Ordering myself a coffee and some food, I payed the sweet girl who took my order. Telling her to keep the change, she was quite surprised, and very grateful to me.
-
Giving me my food and coffee, we began to make small talk. Briefly exchanging names and how we felt. What we were hoping to do for the holidays and if she knew any area to take shelter for the night, as I was only passing through. "Yeah, there's a small lodge if u go past the hills, and to your left. It's quite hard to find as it's in an isolated area but it has a breathtaking view. Even more so as it's snowing". She stated while giving me a small smile. "Thank you so much Hailey" I said as I got up and began to brace for the snow.
-
"Yes, that's all" I confirmed with the check-in-desk. Taking the key from her hands I smiled and began to make my way around. Wandering into the restaurant, I quickly stumbled over to the fireplace and sat down on the small armchair. Placing my bag on my lap, I raked through my handbag for my charger.
The distant sound of the news on television, came into my attention as it had been turned up.
"Heavy snowfall due to fall within the next hour or so in the 'Thornhill area'. Residence are advised to stay indoors at all times"
After that I zoned out again and muttered to myself "shit..". My phone buzzed in my hand, alerting me that my phone had officially died and my phone charger was nowhere in sight.
Groaning, I decided I should head up to my room to settle in, and try to prepare for the storm ahead. As I began to make my way to the elevator, I noticed someone I knew far too well, odd by a few people in a crowd of tourists. Groaning to myself I looked down while trying to hide my face from the person. Making his way into the small space he greeted me with a 'so, we meet again'. Glaring over at him without making any eye contact I replied. 'So we do..'
The elevator ride happened to be quite painful as the silence was piercing. Honestly, we acted like ex's, even tho we were only friends. Once the doors had finally opened. I grabbed my suitcase and rushed out of the elevator and down the hall way. Making a few sharp turns, not quite sure where I was actually going I just decided to go anywhere, hoping he would leave me alone. But that was the total opposite.
"Are you following me" I abruptly said out of nowhere, while sharply turning to face him. He towered over me like I was an ant in a forest. "No?" He mocked, but clearly I could tell he was. Rolling my eyes, I scanned the walls for some way to find my room. 64.
Turning in the opposite direction, I wheeled my suitcase behind me and searched form my room. When I had eventually found it, Blake was beside me. Again.
Throwing my arms up in the air, fed up. I groaned and half angrily whispered. "What do you want!". Now his reply was nothing more than a players reply "you". Staring at him with a not impressed face, I said. "Goodnight.. Blake". Swiping my card to try and get in, he placed his hand on the door handle to try and stop me from entering my room. "Will you stop" I yelled at him, defeated at his riddles and games. "Honestly I'm so sick and tired of seeing you everywhere. Just popping up out of nowhere. Can you not just leave me alone for once" I pleaded with him.
"No" he said seductively.
