Theodosia yawned and stretched as she slipped her feet over the cot. She was on her own today, George and Philip had left on the boat the last evening.Flashback:
"You're sure you'll be okay?" Philip gripped both her arms and Theodosia nodded
"It's just for a few days Philip." He ran a hand through his hair
"Okay. . ." Then he did something completely unexpected, he kissed her cheek swiftly then walked quickly to the door. Theodosia stood there for a minute. Philip Hamilton had just kissed her cheek. . .
Theodosia changed into a dress she had bought, it wasn't as elegant as the stuff she had at home, but it was enough. It was beautiful out, she might as well explore.
George had showed her the apothecary, so she headed in that direction. It was so different from the city, she had grown to love it! She came to a stop in front of a bakery, there were tiny cakes on display, one particular platter caught her eye, it had pink, blue and yellow cakes. She checked the price, they weren't expensive, she could buy them for George and Philip when they came home. She kept walking
As her walk got longer she began to notice a man that was walking near her. He was tall and handsome, dressed in elegant clothes, he could not have been from around there.
"Pardon me, are you lost Miss?" the man asked, Theodosia blushed
"Oh. . . no, its okay." she kept walking but the man persisted
"Hey, I know its not funny, but you don't look like you're from around here." She held her ground
"I could say the same about you, Sir. She looked up at him. The man chuckled and nodded
"I could take you to New York if you'd like." She narrowed her eyes
"I never said I was from New York." the man faltered
"We-ell , I'm just assuming, so, what do you say?" He had her backed up in a corner now, it was odd, she felt tempted to take him up on his offer, but it felt. . . wrong. Wrong for Philip. wrong for her She looked down, if she avoided his gaze, if she ignored him he might leave. "Burr." to say she was surprised was an understatement, she looked up "Sir?" The man smiled, an evil sort of smile.
"Dear Theodosia, your father and husband have ben looking for you. . ." she backed up even more and shook her head a little "What?" the man scoffed
"Yeah, imagine their surprise when I bring you to them. Except by then. . . you'll be dead." he shrugged "Oh well, they'll still have to pay me." Theodosia shook her head
"No" Only now did she notice the stains on his clothes and the crimson on his hands that meant those clothes most likely weren't his. He took out a sack and in a burst of energy Theodosia punched him and ran. She didn't get far before she ran into an even taller man. "Don't run." he warned and she screamed "Don't do this, I have money, I'll give it to you, just let me go!" The first man laughed "Oh, but you don't have as much as your daddy. Senator Burr will pay us good money. That is all I want.
He grabbed her and violently shoved her in the sack. She moved around painfully as she bounced up and down on his back, and she screamed. The man hit her hard "Don't." he said loudly. All of a sudden he dropped her. "Don't you touch her!" She heard a loud crack. Slowly, she climbed out from he sack
"Stay there Theodosia!" Philip looked so angry, he had blood spilling out of his nose and a few bruises around his eyes but she wasn't focused on that, because Philip had the two men pinned against a wall, he was scaring even her! "You ever touch her again, so help me, I've escaped death!" he whispered the last part, like it was some weapon nobody should know about. Then he let go and the men ran.
Theodosia stood up and was about to speak "Don't!" Philip said raising up his hand "Theodosia, why the hell were you over here?" he licked his lips then grimaced, whipping the blood, only making it worse. "Let's go. . ." she looked down at the ground and followed him.

""Philip, I didn't know." Philip shook his head
"I know. . . its just, Theo, you would have been gone, like that!" he snapped his fingers.
"Well," she replied, soaking the cloth she was holding "Its going to take more than that to get rid of me. Philip smiled, the bruises looked so much worse now, she reached up and touched his check lightly "Philip. . . what happened to you?" he grabbed her hand and held it against his face. He sighed and Theodosia could smell rum, of all things. She looked in his eyes for some sort of answer. "We. . . were attacked, our captain killed and. . . we didn't know what to do!" Theodosia looked him over "Is that why you smell like alcohol Philip?" he just stared at her
"God! Theodosia we're pirates, its kind of what we do!" she shook her head
"Not you. I refuse to believe that about you." Philip scoffed
"You have too much faith in me, you've only known me for what, two weeks?"
"Four actually." She got up and as she was entering his room she turned "And Philip, you don't have enough faith in yourself." With that, she stalked into the room and didn't sleep a wink.
Ta da! Kind of sucks but atlwast I'm moving the story along. Its very cliche but so is Philidosia, so, , ,
