Philip had broken. She could tell because he didn't speak much, and when he did it was barely a whisper. "I wish I could just open my eyes and he'd be here," Theodosia looked at him sadly "or better yet that we'd never come here!" He scowled and put his head down on the table.
"I know Philip, I miss George too." She walked over to him and hugged him gently. Philip leaned into her then stood up "No, it's not the same,"
"I'm not saying it is," Theodosia shot back.
"Theo. . . for so long, George was all I had and now he's gone." He frowned then grabbed a satchel off the table "I've got to go," She nodded"Don't do anything you'll regret," she called after him Philip gave her a sad look then nodded as he headed out.
That left her to reflect. George was gone, and Philip was still determined to get her home even though Theodosia felt it would not be home anymore. If he succeeded it would also be a lose for him, he'd be left by himself and Theodosia couldn't have that for him. Not now, not when she had found Maria's words to have a ring of truth. She had known Philip for a few months at the most, but that was all it took.
She was in love with him.
There was no going back. She had never loved anyone, not like this, and it was terrifying that she had fallen head over heels for a man who had she met in different circumstances would have been her enemy. Though, something made her doubt even that, if Philip had not vanished, she felt like she'd love him anyways. . . she was able to envision a life, late nights in New York, sneaking around with Philip Hamilton and never letting their dads know. Theodosia smiled wistfully.
That was a life she'd never had, she never would have. She couldn't have him now, not forever, but she had him for now.
And she intended to let him know just how important he was.
