Philip stared at her, he didn't say anything but Theodosia was sure. . . he felt the same. "I'm sorry," he said as he pulled away "I have to go Theo, you find Joseph, I'll find my parents."

Her heart fell. "Yeah. . . okay, you find your mom Philip." Philip sighed, then he exploded

"STOP SAYING THAT! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS ONLY SAY MY MOM? I WANT TO SEE MY DAD TOO, HE'S A JERK BUT I STILL LOVE HIM!" Theodosia flinched and stepped back. Philip's scowl disappeared and he stepped towards her "Theo, I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me," he step reached out and wrapped his arms around her.

"It's okay, I just thought that you knew," Philip pulled back

"Knew what" he asked and Theodosia sighed

"Did you and George ever read the news?" his frown deepened but she kept going

"Well, George did but I preferred not to depress myself," in an instant his face changed, at first he looked confused, then like he knew exactly what was happening "he's dead isn't he?" tears began pooling in Theodosia's eyes and she nodded slowly "Philip I'm so sorry-"

"Who killed him?" Theodosia looked up, startled

"What?" Philip sighed looking annoyed

"You heard me, I think I know my dad, he would die for something stupid like a duel!" he ranted and Theodosia decided not to point out that that was how he had "died". Still, he didn't want to answer, if she did he would hate her, if she didn't he still would. "Theo. . . tell me, who killed my dad?" She stayed silent.

Everyone had already left the docks. It was only the two of them there when it began raining. Philip grabbed her face "Tell me, please, I need to know." Theodosia shook her head and sobbed

"You'll hate me Philip!" she wailed and a ghost of a smile appeared on his face

"The only person I could possibly hate right now is my dad,"She smiled a little but still said nothing, instead she pulled him down to her height and kissed him so that at least she would have that. "It was. . .it was my dad Philip," she said and as she had predicted he let his hands drop from around her. Theeodosia didn't try to get him back. She just let him leave.

Theodosia stared at the big house in front of her. It looked different somehow, lonelier, abandoned. Still, she took a deep breath and walked up to the gates. The man who was a the gates looked like he'd seen a ghost when he saw her, but he let her into the house.

"Dont cry," she whispered to herself as she made her way up the staircase. Her steps echoed off the walls and she heard a voice up above call "John? Is that you son?" Then he stepped out from his office.

It was like she was seeing him for the first time. Her dad had aged years since she'd last seen him, his dark skin had become paler and paler and he had left his beard untamed. He looked up and yelled, falling down onto the ground in front of her "It can't be! Who-"

Theodosia knelled in front of him "It's me Father," Aaron Burr held his head in both his hands and shook it frantically "I'm seeing things!" Gently, Theodosia grabbed both his hands and she spoke softly "No, you're not," she said and he stared at her, his eyes filling with tears

"My daughter? My baby!" he pulled her towards him and kissed the top of her head "How? . ."

"That's not important," with a great deal of effort he pulled himself up "I'm going to write to Joseph right now!" Theodosia stood up and grabbed his hand

"Please don't Father, I'm only here to say goodbye," she said. Her dad looked at her with a mix of heartbreak and confussion "I don't understand," Theodosia sighed tears filling her eyes for the millionth time that day "Father. . . I don't love Joseph, but there is someone else I do love." There. She had said it, it was like a weight lifted from her chest, maybe she had loved Joseph. . . once, but not anymore "Theodosia, my darling, you must stay, you simply must!" he wailed,

but she was done.

She was done doing things because the people in her life wanted her to, she was done hiding what she wanted, so she said "I'm sorry," kissed his cheek then descended the stairs again. As she opened the door she heard him call after her "I love you," then quieter "I hope he does too," Theodosia looked back "I love you Daddy. . . and, don't worry, he does." Then she left the house with her head held high.

Now all she had to do was find Philip and tell him how much she loved him. . . wherever he was.

Yo!

So, I'm very dumb and I signed up for AP World History because I was like "yay, we're going to talk about Alexander Hamilton and all that fun stuff!" Yeah. . . so far it's only been talk of Sumer and Egypt, we haven't  even talked about Rome yet! Anyways, here's your long awaited update that I wrote right after finishing a worksheet on Why dogs make us human. Okay. . . . love you tons. <3
