"Pardon me?" Theodosia asked. Philip looked up confused

"Philip Hamilton. That's my name." Theodosia gasped and backed away a little

"But- you-you're dead!" Philip shook his head, a slight smirk on his lips

"Well, I;m not. And your name is?" Theodosia scoffed and stuck her nose in the air

"Theodosia Burr Alston." Philip raised one eyebrow then lowered his gaze and smiled

"Look at us. Two children of enemies as allies." Theodosia sighed angrily

"Allies?! You think I would be the ally of a scoundrel like you?!" Philip's expression darkened in a way that scared her. "Fine!" he said "but you have nowhere to go, you're stuck here, nobody knows you're alive! Daddy can't get you out of this one." Then as he turned he yelled "I'm your only possible ally!" Theodosia stared at his back as he walked away.

The gravity of what had happened suddenly hit her. She was alone, Joseph and her dad would think she was dead, Philip was the only person she knew in this place. "Wait!" she called out frantically. Philip stopped walking and turned around "Please don't leave!" Theodosia cried as she took of her heels and ran towards him. His face remained blank "Why should I help you?" he asked "After all, I am a scoundrel." Tears fell from her eyes, she was ready to beg him.

"Please Philip!" She chocked out looking at him through watery eyes and grabbing his hands "I'm helpless." she finished. Philip looked her over coldly then sighed, his eyes softening. "Fine." he began walking then called over his shoulder "Keep up Burr!" Theodosia passed her heels into her left hand and held up her dress with the right as she ran after him.

"Thank you!" she gushed and he smiled a little

"I'm only doing this because I'm the one who saved you in the first place, it would be pointless to leave you here alone." Theodosia shook her head

"Your motive isn't good but I still owe you Philip." He nodded grimly then kept walking.

"Philip shoved open the door to a small house. They had reached an area full of houses, though she didn't see many people. "This way" his voice was small as he led her into the house, he hadn't spoken to her the whole walk over, he looked almost. . . scared of her.

Reluctantly, Theodosia stepped into the house. It was small. Smaller than any house she had ever stayed in, but she couldn't be ungrateful. The house had two bedrooms and a kitchen with a couch in it. "D-Do you live alone?" she asked, he looked up at her

"No. George stays in that room." he pointed to one of the room and as if on cue the house's door opened "Hey Philip!" the big man from the boat stepped into the house. Theodosia couldn't believe her eyes! Standing in front of her was George Eacker! Philip looked up and smiled

"Yo Georgie!" He slapped his hand on the taller man's back. Theodosia smiled, Philip looked happier than she had ever seen him, which was not very long, but it still warmed her heart.

Soon enough, night descended upon them. Philip walked in as Theodosia was sitting on the tiny couch. She looked up at him then quickly looked away "Philip! Where is your shirt?" She feelt her cheeks heat up and she covers her face. "Uh. . ." Philip says "I was working a few blocks away in an old lady's crops. Mrs. Clement's son left a few months ago so I'm helping her out." Theodosia nodded, that was really sweet of him. After that hewent into his room then came back out fully clothed.

"Here." says Philip handing her a shirt "You can't sleep in that."  She took the shirt carefully then he said "You can change in my room." So she did. The shirt was huge on her, but it smelled like pine and she loved that.

"Okay." he said sighing "I have to get up early tomorrow to go to the boat, so I'm turning in. You can go ahead in my room Mrs. Alston." Theodosia blushed, had he just called her Mrs.? Then she reddened even more "Y-your room?" he nodded

"George is already asleep, so I assumed you would want to stay there." She nodded then walked slowly past him into his room.  It was a decent room, kind of small, but then again he barely had anything in it. It sure didn't look like a scoundrel's room, Philip Hamilton was beginning to grow on her. His kindness towards her, the fact that he worked for an old lady. . .

Stop! She told herself as she settled on the cot. Joseph, you have a husband, you're going back to him soon. Except this wasn't certain, she fiddled with her wedding band, she missed her home, her and Joseph's house in New York, what she didn't miss was the noise, it was quiet here, Joseph had never liked the quiet, but she loved it. She went to sleep with this in mind.
