As was the first day that Jaylynn felt the wrath of the disease, reality began to set in. She no longer had a home, all her and her sister had was a house. Instead of love and care from their mother, all the two sisters had was each other. As their mother always told that someday, it would come to that very thought, or in this case reality. Their mother taught them well, as far as she could tell from her very last breath.
But Jaylynn now had a job to do. She would play the role of mother as long as she had to. She would provide and protect her younger sister at all costs, even if that cost is her very life. As the days went on, the sisters cleaned their house and packed all of their belongings that they could carry.
As Jaylynn pushed her glasses back on her face, she looked at the hard work that had gone into their house from the time she was a little girl. The house was clean, but the only thing that tainted this house was the death of the disease. Jaylynn wished to get rid of this horrid stain, but it was no use as she did not know the cause.
Jaylynn called for her sister," BROOOOOKE, LOAD THE CAR UP!"
" OK," Brooke replied.
Jaylynn didn't know yet how to drive, but she has watched her mother for years, and she feels that she has the hang of it. Jaylynn walked into the kitchen and slowly opened what they called the "front" door. She looked up through the screen door and saw the gray clouds that threatened to spill their contents.
Jaylynn's eyebrows scrunched together with worry.
"We need to move now," she thought to herself. "Before it's too late."
As she was reaching up to lock the door in place so that it would stay open, she saw her sister, straining, as she was pulling the biggest suitcase towards the door.
She looked over her shoulder an said to her sister, "Brooke, why are you pushing yourself?"
"Because," she took another hard tug at the suitcase, "Momma always said that we have to help each other first before we help ourselves."
"But Momma also said not to push yourself past your limit."
Jaylynn walked over to her younger sister and picked up the suitcase with one hand and walked over to the open door.
Brooke saw this act, and her heart swelled. She and her sister had had their fair share of differences, but one thing that they could agree on is that they needed and loved each other.
