Megan's POV
The next month has been hard for everyone, my mums become weaker and has lost so much weight to the point where she's basically skin and bone. The chemotherapy isn't good for her at all but it's trying to make her better so she keeps having it. Everyone's worried about her, especially my dad, he's in such bad shape as well. He's trying to help my mum as much as possible but she's still not letting anyone help her, she's being stubborn. I hear them argue most nights when they think me and Jacob are asleep, I sit down on my bed and listen to them. It always starts with my dad trying to help mum in some way but she always refuses and it just gets my dad frustrated, he's trying so hard. I'm scared that this is breaking them up, they haven't been like they used to in weeks, it worries me. My mum and dad are my only hope in true love.
"Where's mum?" I asked my dad.
"She's upstairs asleep, she hasn't been feeling well today" He explained. I sighed with a nod.
"Oh, is she okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, she just had a headache, I'm sure some sleep will help" He said. I hate what this is doing to my family, my dad isn't happy anymore. He hasn't got that sparkle in his eyes anymore and he's not is hyperactive, bubbly self, I hate this. Then I heard someone walk down the stairs slowly and then a clash. Me and dad looked at each other worriedly and ran over to the stairs. I gasped when I saw my mum on the floor.
"Mum!" I cried and went over to her, "are you okay?" I asked. She just nodded.
"I'm fine honey" She said trying to sit up.
"Baby, why did you get out of bed?" My dad asked as he picked her up off the floor. She sighed.
"I needed to walk around" She said, "I hate staying in bed all day" She added.
"Well why don't you just lay on the couch and we can watch a movie?" He suggested, trying hard to make my mum feel better. She shook her head.
"No, I just want to go of a walk" She said. Both me and my dad knew she wasn't strong enough to go for a walk, she always needs support from someone.
"You're not strong enough baby" My dad sighed. He walked over to the couch and placed my mum down. She frowned.
"I'm fine! I can walk by myself!" She said frustratedly and stood up.
"Fine, go for a walk but don't expect me to be here when you come back" My dad shouted and stormed out of the room. Then a slam of the door followed after. I looked over at my mum and she was about to cry.
"Come here" I said opening my arm up. She shook her head and stood still.
"No, I need to go after him" She said shakily and headed for the door. No way was she going out my herself when she was in this state, I thought.
"You're not going out alone, just give him time to calm down" I said as I grabbed her wrist gently to stop her from leaving.
"I can't let him walk away" She said and began to cry. I pulled her into a hug and she cried into my shoulder, "I can't lose him" She sobbed. I felt a few years roll down my cheeks too, I hated seeing my mum cry, it was hard to see her like this.
"You won't, I know dad, he'll be back sooner than you think" I said trying to be reassuring but she kept crying. I couldn't get her to stop, I didn't know what to do.
"I've ruined everything" She cried.
"What? You've done nothing wrong" I said feeling puzzled to why she thought this was all her fault. She just nodded her head.
"If it wasn't for me getting cancer, this would've never happened" She said sadly.
"Are you kidding?" I asked, "you couldn't help it mum, none of this is your fault, stop thinking that!" I said sternly. She just sniffled but didn't say anything.
"I caused him to walk out though" She said quietly, like she felt guilty. I sighed heavily.
"All dad is trying to do, is help you but you keep pushed him and us away, all we want to do is help you!" I explained. She needed to hear this. She bowed her head down in shame.
"I'm sorry, I just had you all doing things for me. I'm your mother, I should be looking after you, not the other way round" She sighed.
"You're sick, you need people to look after you because you're to weak to look after yourself let alone anyone else" I said.
"I guess you're right" She agreed.
"Now. Why don't we go watch movies together, just me, you and Jacob?" I suggested. A small smile crept up on my mums face. I couldn't help but smile myself, that's the first time in weeks that I've seen my mum genuinely smile and it made me feel happy. I shouted for Jacob to join us downstairs and he did just that. For the rest of the day all 3 of us say together on the couch, watching movies just like we did when we were little. The only thing missing was dad. I could tell that dad not being here was worrying her, I kept catching glances of her every so often and every time she was looking out of the window, just waiting for dad to arrive, but he never did. All night we watched movies until we all fell asleep together, no once did dad come home or contact us, it worried me too.
