Anyways onto your long awaited chapter

Lafayette POV

So this is what my life has come to.

I'm currently following my brother and three girls all because he wants to tell his boyfriend that he's betrothed.

"HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND."

"I never said he was!"

Alex turned and glared at me. "You're very easy to read."

Peggy caught up and ran between us.

"Guys, put your brother conflicts away so we can focus on getting there and back before anyone notices we're gone."

We continued running until Alex stopped in front of a building. He didn't even knock as he went inside. As we followed him, there was a man sitting near the back sewing something. He heard us come in and smiled as he looked at everyone until he got to me.

His eyes locked with mine as we studied each other before he looked back down to whatever he was working on, his cheeks a light pink.

"Hey Herc. Where's John?" Alex asked.

He looked back up. "I think he went to pick up some food from Maria. Should be back any minute, though."

We only had to wait a few minutes until who I think is John came through the door.

John POV

"Herc, why the f*ck did you send me out to get so much food?" I asked as I struggled to get the door open with all the packages in my hands. He looked up from the table.

"Well, I was planning on pigging out, but we have some guests now so we're probably gonna end up sharing."

I lifted my head over the pile.

"Oh. Hi, Alex. Peggy, Angelica, Eliza. And... who is this?" I asked, nodding to the fifth person.

"This is my brother, Lafayette." Alex said.

I went over to a nearby table and set down all the packages. I walked over and shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you. I'm John Laurens."

He smiled. "So you're the famous John that Alex talks about all the time."

I glanced over and Alex was glaring at him, but his cheeks were a light pink. I smiled at him and started to put things away.

"So, what brings you all here so late?"

"I came to tell you that the WORST THING has happened to me." Alex replied, rather dramatically I might add.

I just raised an eyebrow. Lafayette rolled his eyes.

"And what is this thing that has happened to you?" I asked, grinning. Peggy gestured to me from where she was standing. She frowned and shook her head and my smile slowly faded.

"John, I've been betrothed to someone I've never even met."

"What? But, that's not fair. To you or to her."

He grabbed at his hair. "That's what I said! And I don't even understand why I'm the one being betrothed. Laf is older, and no one is making him marry anyone!" He started ranting.

This is what I get for falling for him. Right when I'm getting close to him, he's snatched away out of reach. At least he doesn't agree with it.

"Alex, I'm sure everything will be fine." Eliza told him.

"Yeah," Lafayette added, "and it's not like you're not going to meet her at all before the wedding. She's supposed to come here in a few days to help get things ready for the wedding."

"But that's the thing!" Alex argued. "She's going to be planning stuff, and I'm probably going to have a crap ton of stuff to do, too. We'll probably barely exchange any words the whole time she's here."

"Alex." He turned and looked at me. "This could be a very important alliance. I think this is something you need to do." I told him, carefully choosing my words so I won't upset him.

He sighed and nodded. He walked over to window and looked out.

"Well it's getting late. We should probably head back. I'll see you all later."

He grabbed Lafayette and they left. As soon as they were out of sight everyone turned to Herc.

"We need to address the elephant in the room." Angelica said.

He looked at us confused. "Which is...?"

"Oh my gosh." Peggy said, sighing.

"It's the fact that you're totally in love with Alex's brother." I told him.

"What! No I-I'm not. What makes you think that?" His cheeks became pink.

"It's literally showing on your face." Eliza said.

"Can we not talk about this right now?"

"Fine." Peggy said. "We've got to be heading out anyways. See you two tomorrow."
