Everyone was busy preparing for the wedding the next day. They were planning on having a small dance beforehand. And Alex had decided that during the dance was the perfect time to see John one last time. He had something to do.

Making sure no one was looking for him, he took off. It was easier to not be seen since the sun was almost down. He finally found the shop and touched down. Heading inside, he saw Hercules, but no John. Hercules looked up from his desk.

"Hey Alex. What's got you here so late?"

"Is John here?"

"Um.. yeah I think he's in his room. I'll send him down if he is."

"Thanks."

Hercules stood up and went up the stairs as Alex ran a hand through his hair, letting out a breath. He looked up again to see John coming down the stairs, a worried look on his face.

"Alex, is everything ok?"

"Uh, yeah, well. Can we take a walk?"

The sun was completely down at this point. The two had been aimlessly walking through the town talking about anything and everything. Eventually they walked in silence, walking so close together their hands brushed together every once in a while.

"Ok, this has been nice and all, but what's the real reason you wanted to talk to me?" John asked him.

"Me? What? Pshhh what are you talking about, can't I just have wanted to spend some time with you?"

John sighed and stopped walking, grabbing Alex's shoulders and making the shorter male face him.

"Alex. You know you can tell me anything."

"I know it's just—"

He was cut off by shouting in the distance. Alex looked toward the castle in panic before grabbing John's hand and dragging him down the street, the shouts getting closer.

"Alex, what is going on?" John loudly whispered as he was pulled down the road.

"Well, um, you see. There's supposed to be a dance tonight, hut I figured I'd have enough time before it started because there's something I need to do."

The voices got closer as the continued running. Eventually they ran by an opening between to buildings and John pulled him inside.

"Alex, what is this thing you need to do? You really probably should be back at the castle."

Alex sighed. "John, I just, gah I don't know how I'm supposed to go into this."

He paced the small alley as John watched him, getting more confused by the second. Alex finally threw his hands up in the air and walked back to John. They stood there a moment looking at each other as Alex contemplated whether or not he should do what he planned and John watched him, waiting for him to do what he was going to.

Alex let out a deep breath.

"Screw it."

He cupped John's face and pulled him down slightly to connect their lips. John's eyes widened before he kissed back, his hands moving behind Alex's back and briefly brushing against his wings. Alex was trying to fit so much into this kiss. Everything he hadn't done, everything he hadn't said, was somehow being out into this kiss. John pulled him closer slightly and Alex moved his arms to hang around John's neck and tangled his hands in his hair. But even though they both wanted it to continue, Alex had to break away.

He slowly pulled back. John still had his eyes closed, catching his breath after the kiss. Alex smiled sadly at him.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, and took off.

"Hey, buddy, how'd it g- oh my God you're crying. What happened?"

Hercules had stepped out to grab some things when John left with Alex. He had come back to see John lying on his bed, crying.

"Well, we, we were just talking and walking around and everything was fine. And then some guards or something came looking for him so we hid in an alley, a-and then, he kissed me."

"Shouldn't that be something you, I don't know, celebrate?"

"He kissed me and then he left." John laughed sadly. "I don't know why I let myself fall so hard. I told myself at the beginning not to get so attached, but look where that got me.

"It just wasn't meant to be."

So I wrote the next chapter before I wrote this one idk why but do you guys want the next one too or do you want to wait a little bit
