Chapter 2

Leave and wait

I visited my mother at her room. I opened the door and greeted her. "Euphie?"she asked. I nodded and smiled.

"Has father visited you?"she asked. I chuckled. "He didn't visit my hospital from now, how about you mom did dad visit you?"I asked.

"He called and he can't visit today because he's busy"she said. I nodded. She patted her bed. "Sit down here"she offered. I smiled. "Sure mom"I said then went near to her. A moment's alarm is here.

"Have they scheduled your surgery?"I asked worried. It's a terminal lung cancer she could die from it. "Don't worry about that"she said.

I pouted. "How could I not worry about it?"I asked. She touched my cheeks. "It's okay dear, if I'm destined to die. No one can stop the one who judge us"she said.

I'm about to cry. She's always like this. I looked at my watch. She should be checked by now.

A nurse came in and checked her. "Are you her guardian?"she asked me. I nodded.

"The surgery is scheduled but...... You know that we can't promise that the terminal lung cancer will gone we just prolonged her life"

I know that. There is no cure for lung cancer this bad. "So when is it?"I asked. She checked her notes.

"Probably be done in two week"she said. I nodded. "Please take good care of her"I requested to the nurse.

She nodded. I looked at my watch. It's 8:30PM. Where is Jahrid anyway?

Jahrid's POV

"I'm here dad"I greeted my dad at his office. He nodded and greeted me too.

"How's your residency at your hospital?"he asked. I rolled my eyes. As you think we had bad relationship but I still respect him and my stepmother.

My mom died when I was young though. "Of course it's fine. I'm a talented son of yours anyway"I said. He nodded.

"Let me go straight to the point, can I?"he asked. I raised and nodded. I didn't know he had something to discuss.

"I asked the CEO of the hospital where you are a resident. He wants someone to volunteer to Kochenia medical team and I suggested you as my son"

What the!?

"You told the CEO that I'll volunteer!?"I asked from anger. He always do things without permission.

He nodded. "How long will it take?"I asked. I thought of Euphie. I can't leave her.

"Four or five years"

"I won't fucking go there"I yelled. He narrowed his eyes. "You will, or I'll take out your doctor's license"he suggested.

Fuck this shit!

If he'll take my license. I won't be a doctor ever and I'll never see Euphie again. If only the time is fast. I could wait five years but not without Euphiemia!

"You're going within two weeks. Make a decision now"

Take my license and never see her again. Or..... I'll wait?

"I'll think about it"I said then went out of his office and  slammed his door.

How am I going to decide that easily? Without leaving someone? And until I met them again? Five years?

It's 8:40PM. Euphie might be waiting.

That's it. Wait. But how am I going to endure that 'I want to see her' like that.

I don't know that if she can wait. But it's not like that she likes me.

That thought broke my heart. Yeah, it's true anyway. We've been friends for years. From highschool until now. She's not that awkward to me.

Sometimes.

The thought of her considering me as her friend really broke me to pieces.

*sigh*

I should decide. Even if I worry, even if I hurt, even if I cry...... We all make decisions for good, right?

"Yah Jahrid, what took you so long!?"someone shouted behind. I look back. Euphie.

Her smile as a friend tore me again and again. I frowned and just stood up watching her smile.

That smile. I will miss it. Even..... It's just a friend. She frowned too. Seeing my expression of mine like this.

She ran to me. She's the first girl who approaches me like this and the first person. That's why I like her. Her approach.

"Hey, is something wrong. Talk me about it"she said. I really want to talk about it. But if only.

I faked a smile. "There's nothing"I said then.... Hugged her.

Please just let me do this. It'll be worth it. I'll do what my dad says. Just let me do this.

I hugged her tight not wanting to let her go. "Are you okay? I know there is something wrong. I know you, you just don't want to talk about it but please tell me if you're okay don't lie"she asked.

I blinked. I didn't know it was going to be like this. I thought she will ask like 'what are you doing' but it's not like it. It's not what I expected.

"I'm..... Not okay, Euphie"I told her the truth. She hugged me back and rubbed my back.

"It's okay"she comforted me. I nodded. "Shall we go now?"she asked.

I think it's time to let go...... Of you for now.

I let go of her and nodded. She messed with my hair. "What was that?"I asked while she still messed my hair.

"You're such a mama's boy"she said while letting go and ran to the parking lot. She knows that mama's boy angers me.

I ran following her. Try me, Euphie. I'll get you.... Soon.

I saw her behind of the car hiding. Is she dumb? Her feet or shoes can be seen under the car.

I slowly went to the other side. And surprised her. "Kyahh!"she shouted. I tickled her and laughed.

"Did you just see a ghost?"I asked while tickling her. She laughed also and tried to open her mouth to say something.

"Answer it, Euphie"I suggested so she will had hard time with the tickle.

"Yes..... I saw a ghost...... And made my heart beats fast"she said while laughing.

What did she just say? I bit my lip. Maybe not like that. Maybe she meant her heart beats fast because she's surprised of the ghost in here. I smiled.

Is the chapter cheesy? If it does just suck the word because I think It's cheesy too.
