When opposites attract

chapter eight

*the next evening*

(A) the doorbell rang so I opened the door and saw some pretty girl outside. It's probably carson's date or something.

A: um hi, what's your name?
S: I'm sydney, is caleb leblanc here? His friend invited me here for dinner.
A: um yea he's ironically making dinner right now. Come in, I'll go get him.

(A) i walked her into the kitchen as caleb turned around. I could tell he liked her already.

Ca: caleb, meet sydney. Sydney, meet my best friend Caleb.
H: jaw drops*

(H) she was so pretty. She had blonde hair and greenish blue-ish eyes.

C: nice to meet you. Here, take a seat.

(A) hayden, carson and i left the room since they were having dinner alone. They went upstairs and played a few games as I went in my room and painted my nails. I kinda got a little jealous when I saw the way hayden looked at sydney. It kinda made me feel self-conscious. I know I'm not blonde and my eyes don't sparkle as much, well- I don't know. I just hope everything goes well for sydney and caleb. Then we just need to find carson a girlfriend. Anyways, a little while later my nails were fully dried so I went downstairs and saw something. Caleb and sydney were kissing. I awkwardly interrupted.

A: sorry to interrupt. I see the date went well.

C: yes it did.

S: smiles* well I have to get going, I had fun and dinner was delicious thankyou. Call me later tonight?

C: of course.

H: walks downstairs*

S: smiles* bye annie, *leaves*

C: wow....

A: laughs*

H: someone has a crush.

A: yea, and caleb does too mr.googly eyes.

H: rolls his eyes* she's hot, but I don't like her.

C: good, cause I called dibs anyways.

A: where's carson?

H: he went out. Probably to find you a boyfriend. He's like cupid.

C: he is a big baby sometimes.

A: laughs* wow. Anyways, I'll be in the pool bubba.

C: okay, have fun.

(A) i go upstairs and get changed into my red two piece bathing suit. I brush my hair, grab a towel and a pool floatie and go dowstairs. I run into hayden on the way.

H: hey leblanket

A: hey Summersalt. I'll be in the pool.

H: can I come?

A: no.. This is a relaxation technique.

H: who says I can't help you relax.

A: you, make me tense up.

H: and how's that?

A: I constantly have to watch and make sure nothing is thrown at my head or poisoned.

H: oh yea, how about I prove it.

A: you're on! If I tense up two times you lose.

H: deal. be right back..

(A) what have I gotten myself into?
Anyways, I step into the pool and lay down on my back as I float. it was so peaceful. it was getting dark outside.
Then of course the silence was followed by a loud splash. Of course!

H: jumps in the pool* yes!

A: you have one more shot.

H: already!? How else am I supposed to get in?

A: the steps.

H: but that's boring.

A: this isn't for fun though. it's to relax.

H: you need to loosen up a bit.

A: and why's that?

H: your so tense sometimes.

A: closes her eyes* floats*

(H) i go underwater and secretly snatch her legs as she goes under.

A: catches her breath* you're dead!

H: laughs* try me.

A: splashes him*

H: jaw drops* hey!! *splashes her*

(C) I was in the living room on my phone when I heard giggling and laughing from the screen door connected to the pool room. I'm glad them two are getting along.

(A) we started splashing each other as he grabbed me pulling me towards the deep and, catching me off guard purposely. Then he dunked me under. When I came back up I put my body weight on his shoulders trying to drown him.

H: give up leblanc.

A: not until I win!

(H) I yank her off my shoulders as she falls into the water. I laughed so hard. she doesn't give up though I'll tell you that. Later she ironically did give up because she was tired. That was the only thing that kept me from drowning.

(A) he thought! I secretly didn't give up as I went up to him and splashed him. I pushed him under and he came back up and shook his hair. 

H: okay Leblanc you got me.

A: laughs* maybe I do need to loosen up once in a while.

H: once in a while?

A: don't push your luck.

H: laughs* but see, aren't you having fun?

A: nods* smiles*

(H) the moon was out by this time as she quickly hugged me.

H: what was that for?

A: I just lately realized the past few days we've been hanging out, I've been really happy. thankyou.

H: you really have to stop thanking me. I mean you've helped me too. I haven't even been thinking about katie. You really take my mind off things.

A: did I just hear a compliment.

H: I guess so..

(A) it wasn't until I glanced down that I realized how close we were. It was kinda awkward at first. It was silent.
He was just looking at me while i looked at him. i giggled nervously and looked down.

(H) she started looking down and I could tell that she was nervous. and for some reason so was i. I lifted her head with my finger and smiled at her.

H: whatchya thinking about?

A: smiles* a couple things.

H: like what?

A: like why am I suddenly so nervous around you..

H: well I think it's because, you like me.
