I woke up to a terrifying shriek coming from Lani's room. I gasped and tore out if Kyoya's relaxed embrace. I ran out and burst through the door. "Lani what's the matter!" I shouted in question. I found her looking under her pillow and her covers were messed up. "Mommy!! I can't find my tooth!!" she cried. It took me a while to register that it wasn't life threatening. Kyoya appeared next to me, still half asleep. "Lani..." I muttered. It had been a month since the trip to Rio. Lani had gotten a loose tooth the day we arrived back. It had came out yesterday and I told her to put it under her pillow.
I was planning to put the money there for her but now she had gone and lost it. "Well now how are we supposed to put the mon-" Kyoya began but I nudged him in the ribs. He wasn't very bright half asleep. "Lani I promise we'll look for it as soon as we can but right now-" then Lani interrupted, "No mommy we have to look for it now!" I thought to myself, "Well there go my plans to sleep in. Well whatever its already 12:00."
"Sure then. Lets look for that tooth" I sighed. So Lani fixed her bed while Kyoya and I went to change and get ready for the day. "This should be good" smiled Kyoya. I put his glasses on for him then nodded, "Ofcourse it will." He kissed me on the lips then led me by the waist. As soon we opened the door, there was Lani. Smiling up at us.
"Alright where the last place you had it" I asked her. She thought then answered, "In bed last night. Before that it was in front of the fire place with the boys" she said. "That's right" I recalled, "the guys had been here. Maybe one of them will know." Kyoya nodded and took out his phone then dialed Hikaru's number, "Hello? Yeah hey do you remember last night in front of the fireplace? Lani had her tooth. We can't find it." he spoke into the phone. I could make out most of the other side of the conversation.
"Well...I remember she tried to throw it at me" he sighed bitterly, "but other than that no." I looked over to Lani and frowned, "Why were you throwing it at uncle Hikaru?" I asked. She grinned, "He said the tooth fairy wasn't gonna give me money cuz I had been a bad girl." she explained. I looked at her disapprovingly, "We don't throw teeth- did I just say that" I asked my self. Kyoya smiled then sighed, "Thanks Hikaru." then hung up.
We checked in with the rest of the members but they all said the same thing (the part about not seeing not the part about it being thrown at them). After the last call we decided to search all over the house. I checked under the cushions of the sofa. I grinned when I found a little Rolly- Polee trying to get off its back. I sat and watched, occasionally poking at it. "Andrea!" called Kyoya. I cleared my throat, "Ehem, right." I stood then kept searching the giant house.
Sadie tried to help by lifting Lani so she could reach the top shelf of the book case. Lani then proceeded to sit and refuse to come down. I crossed my arms, "Fine but if we find your tooth and you're still up there, we'll tell the tooth fairy you really WERE a bad girl" I threatened.
Finally after begging me not to do that she came down and continued the search. Kyoya had looked around the fire place and kept re-adjusting his glasses. God he was got when he did that. ANYWAYS, about three hours of searching proved to be in vain. We all took a seat at the table and sighed. "Sorry Lani. Its nowhere to be found!" I sighed. Lani's eyes got teary and she looked to her lap. Kyoya smiled gently then picked her up and put her on his lap then comforted her, "Dont worry. This isn't the last tooth you'll loose. There'll be more and soon you'll forget about this one." he lifted her chin as a tear ran down her face, "Promise?"
I smiled and we said together, "Promise." Venice came out with cups of milk for us. "Thank you all" Lani smiled and drank her milk. I drank mine too but I spotted Kyoya hesitating. "Kyoya is something wrong?" I asked. He ran a hand through his hair and smiled, "I'm not drinking this" he muttered and handed me the cup.
I looked in and saw a tooth floating in it. "Your tooth Lani!!" I shouted. Her eyes went wide and she yelled, "Forreals?!" I laughed, took it out of the cup and handed it to her.
She took it, cupped it in her hands then hugged herself. "Now I remember!" she shouted. "I came down for a midnight snack with my tooth for safe keeping. So I had a feeling I was gonna take a while so I put it in the milk so it would stay strong! I must have forgotten it!" I leaned back in my chair and sighed, "Why are you getting midnight snacks?" I asked. She shrugged marveling down at her tooth.
~.~ The Next Morning ~.~
Kyoya went to check on Lani to see her hugging a dollar. She held it up for me to see, "Look!" she shouted. I nodded, "Alright. I think we'll take you down to ice cream shop later and you can buy a cone" I offered. She grinned and ran down stairs for breakfast. When she was gone Kyoya kissed me on the forehead, "Thanks for taking the money shift, I couldn't wake up early enough" he said. I frowned in slight panic, "Kyoya I didnt-" I couldn't finish my sentence. He frowned and looked back at me, "But i didn't either!" we stared at each other for seconds when i burst out in laughter. He sighed and shook his head. "I can't do this anymore" he exclaimed in exasperation.
