After Constance regained her composure from Aidyn's unexpected comment, we were lead to our rooms by Anthony and Amanda. When I opened the door to the room I was amazed to find the striking similarity to a regular college dorm room. Two twin-sized beds, two desks, and two dressers on either side of the room. The room's walls were a simple bland off-white white color, but Anthony informed me that were allowed to paint and decorate the walls to our liking. Luckily, prior to our arrival arrangements were made for Dante and I to dorm together, so I didn't have to worry about becoming acquainted with anyone new for the night. Meanwhile, only a couple halls down was Constance and Amber's dorms, therefore they weren't too far from us either which was ultimately reassuring for the entire group.
Additionally, before we separated for the night we agreed to meet outside our dorm before walking to breakfast together.
Following this, we wished our quick goodnights to the girls, leaving Dante and I to agree on sides of the dorm, which in actuality wasn't significant since everything was precisely identical.
After this, I finally settle into my squishy twin-sized bed allowing my body to be absorbed by the mattress. As I tug the stiff blanket over my shivering body the chaotic events of the long day begin to catch up to me leaving me in a state of thorough exhaustion. However, despite my body's fatigue, my thoughts run unbridled within my mind.
Everything changes that fast in a day, huh?
Last night, I was sleeping in my bed on Earth, and now I'm dorming in a separate universe with a guy that saved my life at least twice today.
Suddenly, a specific painful thought crosses my mind, and despite my genuine efforts to suppress the thought, it remains stuck, pounding relentlessly at the front of my brain begging for acknowledgement.
I wonder what my parents are doing right now? I wonder how worried they are that I haven't come home yet? Do they know now about my powers from the news or the school? Do they resent me for it?
My heart feels heavy at this string of thoughts, and I pull the blanket over my head, desperately hoping to suffocate the images of my old life dancing inside my mind. Within time, I feel my eyelids grow increasingly heavy as the corners of my eyes darken permitting sleep to overtake me.
I slept restless that night.
◈
I wake up to a stinging sensation against my cheek,
"Ow, what the fu-" I begin to curse out as I reluctantly open my drooping, sleep-infested eyes to ultimately look up into the familiar glacial gray eyes of Constance.
"You overslept, creep."
"So you slapped me to wake me up?" I groan out irately as I rub the sleep from my eyes and sluggishly sit up in bed feeling every bone in my body aching from yesterday's affairs.
"Oi, it worked, did it not?" She questions sarcastically and as I open my eyes fully to gaze around the room I notice Constance, Amber, and Dante all stand before me, dressed and prepared for the day.
"Oh crap." I murmur to myself as realization dawns on me to swiftly ready myself as well.
After politely asking the three to leave, I rush to the bathroom, tossing cold water on my face to wake myself up. Looking in the mirror at my disheveled blonde hair, I groan out in frustration and attempt to flatten the mess. Amongst my rush, I almost don't catch Beelzebub sleeping peacefully in the bathtub, emitting small content puppy snores. I smile cheerfully down at the snoozing ball of fluff and pet him briefly before closing the door to the bathroom and speedily making my way over to my dresser to change into a fresh wardrobe.
