I walked with Lena towards Jonathon's house. His house was very big, maybe twice the size of Lena's? As we neared the door Lena stopped. She had an anxious look on her face.
"I... don't want to go inside." Lena was fiddling with her hands, as if she was nervous.
"Why not? It'll be fun!" I laughed but she didn't laugh with me. "Hey, what's wrong?"
She sighed. "It's just... Some people that I don't really get on with are going to be there. And they almost always cause trouble for me and I don't want you to see me when it happens."
I grabbed her hand and made her look me in the eyes. "I'll be there to help you. You don't need to worry about anything. I promise."
She smiled sadly but shook her head. "I think it's best if you go alone. I'm sorry."
I nodded sadly. "Promise to keep your phone on?"
"I promise." She said and waved goodbye as I walked up the porch through the front door.
Red beer cups were lined along the tables and stairs. Several people were playing beer pong inside whilst others were jumping in the pool or playing a game of truth or dare. I was used to dinner parties and fancy business meetings back home but this was something I've always craved.
"Hey, you made it!" Jonathon was walking towards me holding two cups, most likely full of alcohol.
"Yes, I guess I did." I laughed and accepted it. Mother never let me drink in the house, but that didn't mean I didn't drink elsewhere. "Hey have you seen Casey?"
"You still trying, huh?" Jonathon pointed down the hall towards the kitchen. "She should be back there."
I thanked him and walked through the hall, passing by room which were almost packed with people. I didn't realize there were this many people who attend these kind of things. Guess I've been missing out. As I walked through the door, Casey was having a conversation with a guy who was maybe a little taller than I was. She was laughing, I felt like I didn't want to interrupt their moment so I turned to leave for the garden.
"Hey!" I heard someone call. "Are you stalking me or something?" It was Casey.
I turned around slowly. "If I said yes would you give me your number?"
She scoffed at me. She scoffed at me a lot. "No. You know what? I'll just see you around."
"No! Come on I haven't had a chance to have a proper conversation yet."
Casey pointed at all the other girls in the room with her cup. "You have a whole catalog to choose from."
"Well I choose you." I stood in front of her and made it clear I wasn't going to move.
"Try again next time, you're not my type anyway." She turned around and started walking away from me.
"Oh so you have a type now?" I wasn't going to let her leave me. Her hair was tied in a loose bun and a few strands of hair made her jawline stand out. The dress she was wearing was cinched at the waist and showed her beautiful figure.
"Look, Prince of England," I realized by now that she had been drinking more than I thought. "You may think everyone likes you, but I am not everyone. I am Casey Newport and I only date bad guys." She stormed off and went to fill up her cup again.
I sighed with frustration and went outside into Jonathon's garden. It was long and big, at the far end of the garden was a large rectangular pool with two blossom trees beside it. When you walked down the stone steps, there was a BBQ to your left and a pond and some bushes with a fountain in the middle to your right.
"EVERYBODY! Huge game of spin the bottle in the garden right now!" Everyone started cheering and gathered round a group who were already playing before.
I sat next to Jonathon as we all waited for people to come and join. I noticed Casey in front of me. Maybe this will get her to be willing to go on a date with me.
Some guy from the crowd span the bottle quite quickly. It first pointed at a guy named Freddie and then landed to a girl named Kenzie. Everyone started a drum roll as they got up and prepared themselves, Freddie was jumping up and down and rolling his head around whilst Kenzie was looking at her friends for reassurance.
This went on for a good 10 minutes or so, a girl and a boy, a girl and a girl, a boy and a boy, everyone. After Jonathon and Ava went full on French kissing the bottle finally landed on me. All the girls gathered round this time and Casey rolled her eyes. Jonathon span the bottle and it landed on Megan. She hopped up and cupped my chin, lifting me up to this centre.
"You ready, Romeo?" She wait for a reply and slowly placed her lips on mine.
The kiss began slow as our lips got to know each other but gradually it became more passionate. Everyone around us were so surprised we were still going. The moment lasted one minute 27 seconds, the longest one so far. Everyone cheered as we broke apart, we laughed as the guys jumped up whooping and the girls screamed.
"How about we continue this later?" Megan winked and sat back down.
I pretended to be out of breath as I sat with Jonathon, he high-fived me. "Well done, man! I think she likes you."
I looked over at Casey, she was shaking her head. At least I got a reaction from her. Shame it wasn't her I kissed. Kiss after kiss I carried on going. I was just going to have to make her jealous, it was as if we were 14 again.
