Cas ran his hand up and down Dean's arm, tilting his head ever so slowly, "Something troubles you, what is it, Dean?" The angel asked, oceanic blue eyes full of wonder and curiosity. The Winchester grunted sitting up, the arm that was around Cas fell limply to the couch. "It's Sam isn't it?"

"No, Cas. It's Gabriel." Dean replied in a more serious tone. Both stared at each other for several seconds, "Sammy brought home a pocket knife...it was Gabriel's...." Cas narrowed his lightly colored eyes as if he didn't understand what Dean was talking about. He shifted.

"I don't understand Gabriel could just make another knife, why would Sam take it?"

"Cas!!" Dean exclaimed, "That's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried Gabriel is going to seriously hurt himself!" The angelic creature sighed, looking down then back up at the male before him.

"Why would he-"

"He loves Sam, Sam won't admit his feelings towards the ass!" Cas grew silent at Dean's words. Just as the angel was about to speak up, Sam pushed through the front door. His head hung low, eyes glued to the floor. But he couldn't hide the fact he'd been crying-his cheeks bright red, damp. Dean shifted in his seat uncomfortably, eyeing his little brother. Cas looked over at Dean then vanished.

"Sonofabitch...." Dean murmured, climbing to his feet, he threw an arm around his little brother, smiling faintly. "Sammy, what's wrong?" The young Winchester raised his head, shaking it slowly.

"I can't..he'll get hurt. Just like Jess..or...-" Sam began but was cut short by his brother.

"Stop right there, Sam you should know nothing bad is going to happen. Come on have a little happiness in your life. You deserve it," Dean pat his brother's back softly, Sam brushed the male's arm off his shoulder, "I mean hell, look at what we've been through. Mom, the apocalypse, godstiel. It wouldn't hurt to tell the man you like him."

Sam's dark eyes gazed at his brother for a minute, like he was still absorbing his words. "But-" He sighed, not continuing his words and dragged his feet slowly up the creaking wooden steps to where Gabriel would be. The Arch-Angel sat on the edge of his bed, kicking his legs, in his left hand he held a sucker. Once Sam rounded the corner Gabriel stopped, raising an interested eyebrow-but his eyes still filled with betrayal and sadness-and threw the sucker in the trash. "Gabriel...." Sam approached the angel cautiously, fumbling with his fingers.

"If you're here for another one of your infamous speeches I don't need it, Kiddo." The Arch-Angel replied, his dark eyes glued to the ground.

"N-Not that," Sam assured, "I....I-I-I....unmmm..." He looked away unsure what he was about to commit himself to. Gabriel shifted in his seat, his head perked up obviously interested.

"You're...what..?"

"I-I-I....wasseeingifyouwereokay...." Sam crammed his sentence together, he cursed under his breath at his awkwardness. Gabriel cocked an eyebrow, jumping off the bed he walked straight up to the other male.

"Oh, because I'm just peachy," Gabriel announced crossing his arms. Sam blushed. HE ACTUALLY BLUSHED.

"I-I-I-I......l-love you..," Sam choked out, his face bright red. The Arch-Angel paused, his eyes glued on the taller male. "I love you....as a friend." Gabriel shoved the taller male back a few feet, an angered expression upon his face. Sam was startled by his actions but caught his balance. Their eyes connected one last time before Sam's face made contact with a heavy wooden door.

"Sam?" Dean's rough voice echoed up the staircase, followed by his footsteps. Sam rubbed his nose over and over, his eyes flickered up to his older brother, "The hell did you do to piss him off?" The eldest Winchester helped his brother up, patting his arm. Sam winced removing his hand from his injured nose.

"I-I told him I loved him as a friend," Sam replied, Dean threw his arms in the air. "What? I don't want to see him-"

"You don't get it, do you? Sam he's going to physically hurt himself again, probably even fall. Tell the sonofabitch how you really feel." Dean bumped his brother's shoulder walking by him. "Or he's just going to continue hurting." Sam lowered his head, frowning at the thought. Gabriel wouldn't really fall, would he? All because of him not confessing his love for the angel? No, it was something more. Sam sighed shoving his palms in his jean pockets.

"Gabe?" Sam knocked on the oak bedroom door. Shuffling of papers and mumbling could be heard on the other side.

"Don't call me that," Gabriel growled/whispered, suddenly the door flew open. Papers were scattered everywhere, most of the writing on them were in Enochian. Sam's dark eyes moved around the room, then landed back on Gabriel. His knees folded under his body, hair flying in all directions. "What do you want now?" The angel hissed, the words dripped off his tongue like venom.

"I-I was wrong...."

Gabriel's head whipped up, his intense gaze shooting daggers at Sam. You're a little late for that, was all the trickster's face said.

"I-I-I love you.." Sam took another step forward, but was stopped from taking another.

"Don't you think it's a little late for that?"

Sam's heart stopped.

"Like you said everyone that's close to you always get hurt, Sam. It's too late." With that the trickster disappeared in the flutter of his own wings. The youngest Winchester gazed down at the papers before him, kicking them angrily.

"Sam..." It was Cas, he slowly turned around. The lower angel breathed slowly, "Gabriel's going to fall soon."
