I awoke to the sun streaming down and heating up my blankets. I sat up in my cool, mostly brick alcove. Sticking my head out, I saw the sun high in the sky; I'd slept in late. I exited my alcove and dug into the small hole under my bed, taking out an old piece of bread.
I gnawed on the bread for a bit, but it was hard as a rock and I soon lost interest. I slid off my bed and limped along the big building maze in Abandonment, searching for food or water.
I wandered to the wall where I'd met Jeremy and scaled it with only a little bit of trouble, for my leg still hurt. At the top, I saw soldiers wandering around, farmers working in the cornfields, villagers trading. Near the Leader's castle, I spotted servants carrying buckets full of water from a small stream nearby. They set the water down and sorted it into two groups. In the first group, they squeezed a drop of what I like to call "lucky water." Lucky water makes the water safe to drink and only royalty has it, as it is very rare. I don't know what it's real name is or where it comes from, but I've tried to steal some before and had almost the entire army of Soldiers chase after me.
The shouts of people brought me back to reality and I saw a riot in the trading streets. Soldiers came running and repeatedly punched an older man until he blacked out. Not wanting to see any more, I climbed back down the wall and began to wander around Abandonment.
Soon, I reached a tall, red brick wall unlike the faded, crumbling walls all around me. I'd reached the Second Layer.
