It's been six months since the "meeting" with Nirvana. Jason had been cold the first few days. He was rarely home and wouldn't even look at her. And when he did it was with disgust. And then he changed. He was caring again. But he still felt so far away. Looking at his face though you couldn't tell. Everyday he came home he was energized and lively.
His phone never rang, he didn't have friends, though he worked more often. Patricia couldn't find any evidence of cheating. It was driving her insane.
"I'll be back tomorrow afternoon babe. I have a sixteen hour shift and might take a nap in the office." He breezed past her before she could get out a word. The door slammed shut behind him, echoing in the silence.
Patricia powered on her phone after sitting in the silence.
She began to pound the number in."You are no longer able to contact this subscriber. Good bye."
The dial tone screeched in her ear. Bryan. Bryan. He had to come back to her. She was alone now.-
Jason pulled into the enormous circle driveway and cut the engine. The house was an modern take on a ranch home with a wrap around porch. With a sweeping staircase. Large lioness statues sat at the entrance. He slipped the key out of his pockets and turned the locks. Jason walked into the master bedroom. There she was curled up and tangled in maroon colored sheets. Her skin had that glow. Maybe it was melanin. Or the pregnancy. Jason keeled at the edge of the bed and traced her flat belly. In seven months they would be having a baby. She trembled a little under the gentle touch.
Nirvana was perfect to him. She didn't need him. He wasn't even sure if she wanted him. She was so unreachable at times. So secluded and quiet. It made him ache to be closer to her.
Her eyes cracked open and she smiled, dimples flashing. "Good morning " she whispered.
His gut felt tangled and it was harder to breathe like a sane person. In and out right? Or is it out then in?
"How are you?" He said while tucking hair behind her ear.She stretched and rolled into his lap. "I'm hungry", she sighed longingly.
Jason reached into a duffle bag and dumped a smaller bag onto the bed. Peach rings, a ten piece lemon pepper wet with a peach drank, and a box of Debbie cakes. Nirvana squealed with delight.
She looked at him mouth full and green eyes sparkling with mischief. His knees felt weak. After demolishing the entire spread she jumped in the shower. Jason just watched her. He couldn't not look at her. He wanted to join, GOD KNOWS he did. But she was beautiful. It wasn't even the sex. It was her. Don't get him wrong the sex was amazing, mind blowing. But she's something special. Intelligent, self sufficient, mysterious. She stepped out of the shower, a few resistant streaks of suds running down her back.
"Why can't you marry me already?" He blurted out.
Nirvana walked over to him, "Because I'm already married and because I'm never doing it again. " she whispered.
"But we could work! We could!" He pleaded.
"We could. See,I believe the old saying now. "
"What old saying?"
"Relationships only last when the man loves the woman more than she loves him. "
Jason sat stunned. "So maybe I already love you more",he said.
"You do. I just don't love you at all."
Jason felt like his heart was going to stop. Nirvana straddled his lap. She took his face in her hands and softly kissed him. "Try your best though."
His erection pushed between her thighs. She was so warm. He groaned, unconsciously grinding against her. "I'm going to make you love me!" He growled. Rolling them over and tearing off his clothes. He rammed himself into her. "Fuuuuck!" He moaned. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
"You're gonna have my baby." His body tensed.
"You're going to be my wife!" He moaned releasing himself in her.Three days later he walked back into the seemingly drab little yellow house he called home. Patricia was curled up on the couch. Seeing him she immediately ran into his arms. She went to kiss him. His lips were stiff and unyielding. She stopped. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"I'm just exhausted and my back's a bit sore." He rolled his neck and shoulders as he sat his luggage down.
"Oh let me rub it" Patricia cooed and she tried to lift his shirt. He quickly moved.
"Nah don't worry about it, I'm gonna go shower." He said.Patricia listened to the water run. What's happening?
-
Nirvana walked into her bedroom. A card and a plate of her favorite Jamaican food waiting for her. $2,000 in cash was spread out as well. The entire room filled with sweet smelling orchards and roses. She was extremely pleased. Bryan was asleep on the couch against the far wall. She nudged him awake.
"I have news." She whispered as he rubbed his eyes.
Those constant and prolonged sessions of lovemaking over the months had played their roles. She sat the pregnancy test on his chest. I'm two months pregnant.
