Prologue pt 3

Charlotte's pov

It's been a month since that incident that happened between Adelrik and me. And let me tell you since that day we have been meeting regularly at La'amour cafe, which is near my house, to discuss our german project which consists of making a project on german culture.
When I told Nicole as to what Adelrik said to me which resulted in me missing my algebra class, she was furious to say the least. She wanted to grab him by his neck and drag him through the hall with everyone watching. Her words not mine. But then I told her about our talk on the hill where she caught me. She shrugged it off for the time being but promised me if he ever said something like that again then he will have to meet the devil.
As for Adelrik, he has been nothing but so sweet and caring towards me. He is always waiting for me in the cafe and never once complained of me not being punctual. I was surprised to know but he actually studied a lot. He knew german language way better than I know and I am thankful to have him as my partner. At this point I have accepted the fact that I am really starting to fall for him. He is not like the other people describe him as. Even his bestfriends Luke and Mathew are really fun to be with and easy going guys. I really enjoy their company.
I coudnt help but notice that since last last few days Adelrik has been a bit wierd. He is not his cheery self and he sometimes receives calls which make him furious. Just yesturday only while we both were ordering our drinks his phone suddenly rang. As soon as he saw the caller, he got pale and excused himself to go to the washroom. He came back after 5 mins and said that he had to go back to him house as his dad had some work with him. I didn't want to be nosy so I just ignored his silly reason and asked him to meet me today.
I am now getting ready to meet him. I am not usually a makeup person but I like to dress myself up for my first potential crush, I.e none other than Adelrik. I just hope that we can get along well and be in a relationship. While I am tying my laces I receive a message from adelrik telling me that he has reached. I rush to my car and start driving towards our usual cafe. I notice him as soon as i enter. He is sitting at the far end. I walk to him and notice that he looks really tierd.
" hey are you okay?" I asked while sitting and making myself comfortable. He looks at me for a while and then answers "oh yes just a bit tierd from the workout". Ofcourse he has to work out a lot to maintane that sexy ass body of his. I mumble a short okay and start to take my laptop out.
I couldn't ignore the wariness and sadness in his eyes. I really wanted to know what was wrong with him but I decided against it. We then started to work on our project. Hopefully, today our project will be completed and let me tell you we both will be the first one to compete it.
I am still a bit worried as to what would happen after we are done with this project. Okay scratch 'a bit' I am really worried. I don't know if we will continue to meet everyday and be together. But I really hope for the best.
"Hey Listen Charlotte, I wanted to ask you something" he says. Reading the silence that fell upon us. I look into his eyes and they look really dull. I am really worried about him these days. His eyes are void of any emotion and just shows me how much tierd he is.
"Ofcourse Adlerik, you can ask me anything" I reply while keeping my hands on his hand. "Will you go with me to Jason's party tonight?" He ask.
Wait! Did he really asked me to join him in a party! Oh god this is really happening! I am ecstatic to say the least! I want to do a happy dance right here, right now!! After a whole five minutes of me doing a happy dance in my brain, I look up to him and say yes. A smile broke on his face. But It didn't quite reach his eyes. I ignored it and thought the reason to be his tiredness.
We then decided then his friend Luke will come to pick me up as he has to help Jason to set up the party. I agreed with him. We then completed our project and parted out ways but not before he went and kissed mein my fucking cheeks! Yes he really did that and I have now decided that I will not wash my right cheek for atleast as much days I can afford to!
I think am in love with him! Yes i am! I love adelrik very much.

I was now standing in my walk in wardrobe trying to find appropriate clothes for the party. Yes you heard it right! I freaking walk-in closet! My parents are pretty loaded to say the least but I never flaunt it! That's not me. So yes, since I lack any sense of fashion I called Nicole to help me.
My phone call with Nicole did not really went i thought it would be like. It basically included a hell lot of 'I told you, he is totally into you' and 'you crazy bitch, you are so lucky' and mind you with a hell lot of squealing from her side. So now she is coming over and will get ready with me.
I hear a car's engine being turned off and I counted till ten in my rain. Just as I said ten, my door opened with a thud and there standing was no there than Nicole, who unfortunately is my best friend! Just kidding I love her very much!
As soon as she was done with my makeup I changed into a navy blue knew length dress, which I never even thought existed in my wardrobe. As soon as I get out from my changing room, Nicole gasped while her mouth hung open. I smiled at her. "Oh my god Lotte, you look so beautiful! Every girl will be envious of you today" she says while watching me. I chuckled and saw myself in the mirror.
Yes I looked very different from what I usually look like and I just hope that Adelrik will like my look. As soon as Nicole got ready in a maroon dress we both took so pictures.
After 10 mins we heard a car horn and as soon as I opened the main door, I saw a very dashing looking like standing there in all his glory. He smiled at me and then turned his head towards Nicole. I didn't fail to notice the admiration and adoration that i saw in Luke's eye when he saw Nicole and the slight blush that rose on to Nicole's cheek. Okay i will have to get them together. I just realized how good they will look together! After 5 minutes, which included both of them watching each other with eyes full of lust and admiration, I decided to cough a little to get them out of their trance so that I could reach the party as fast as I can. What can I say, I am really eager to meet Adelrik.
We three then walk towards Luke's car and I went and sat at the back seat so that Nicole will be seated in the passenger seat. I passed her my special wink while she was getting in the car to which she casually rolled her eyes. We started out journey to Jason's house but I can help but get feeling that something was going to be wrong. And let me tell you these intutitons scare the fuck out of me. I just pray to god that everything runs smoothly.
We reached Jason's house and get out of the car. We then walk towards his house which was blazing with loud music. I am not a party person. The last one of these I attended was in a year back in junior school and let me tell tell you it was not a good experience. I shuddered remembering that party.
The door was opened by none other than Jason, who might i say looked really surprised noticing me. Jason knows me well enough to know that I am not a party person as we shared a lot of classes together. After recovering from the initial shock he hugged Nicole and me and did that wierd bro hand shake with Luke. We went inside and I immediately started looking for Adelrik. These types of parties disgusted me to the extent where I wanted to puke. I mean who would not when seeing the girls and boys having almost sex on the dance floor while sweat glistening through their bodies. It's just simply gross. Ignoring all of the horney teenagers I went to check the kitchen and as soon as I entered, I saw adelrik standing there while talking to Matthew. He looked at me and his mouth hung open. Mathew filled his sight and saw me. He gave me a genuine smile and hugged me. Matthew and I were very close. He was like a brother I never had. He then walked out of the kitchen leaving me alone with Adelrik.
"Hey" i said trying to break the awkward silence the sad present between us. "Oh hi" he said rather rudely. His eyes were cold of any emotion. He then walked towards me making my heart beat faster. He stopped right in front of me and took my right hand and pulled me out of the kitchen. He took me to the dance floor.
Without asking he started to dance move with the beats of the song and encouraged me to dance with him. He knew that I did not like to dance in front of everyone. He then started forcing me to dance while taking my hands in his and moving my body with his other hand. I could smell the alcohol from his mouth. Suddenly he turned me around so now my back was facing his front. I was enjoying this position and Adelrik sure knew how to dance. I let myself loose as I knew I had him around me. Suddenly I felt someone put their hands on my waist and started grinding me. I was really feeling very uncomfortable as I never did such a thing with anyone. I removed his hands from my waist and turned around.
As soon as I turned around I noticed that it was not Adlerik who was grinding me but some drug addict boy from our school. I felt so disgusted with myself. I was too shocked to do or say anything. Then the druggy boy brought his hands in my waist. "Hey I know you are enjoying this as much as I am, so just let it loose and dance with me baby" He says while slurring.
I turned around trying to walk away from him but as soon as I took a step forward, my eyes started to water. There standing was none other than Adelrik making out with Becca. They were both so engrossed in eating each other that they didn't even notice me until I touched Adlerik's shoulder.
For a few secondhe just stilled in my touch. But did not turn back around. "Adelrik" I all but whispered but I knew he heard me. Soon he turned around and the sight broke me.he wore that infamous smirk but it was not that playful panty dropping smirk that I fell in love with, it was a devious smirk that held so many evil promises. I looked up into his eyes and they were cold and distant, void of any emotion just like himself. "Oh hey Charlotte" he grasped my chin and made me look upwards. He was slurring, he was drunk. He then started laughing loudly when he saw the tears glistening in my eyes. This caught everyone's attention and suddenly all the attention was on me and even the loud thumping music had stopped.
"Aww Lottie, why are you crying? Did I just break your fragile little heart?"He coed so menacingly that I took a step back. He was drunk and didn't know what he was doing or saying. I had to take him back. "Adelrik, you are drunk, let's get you home before you fall sick." I said while holding his. He stared into my eyes for a minute and something flashed into his eyes. That was the only emotion his eyes showed me but that was also gone before I could figure it out. Suddenly his whole demeanour changed and he jerked his hand away for me with a blank emotion in his face. "Listen here you fat loser, stop behaving like you are my mother for heaven's sake. Remove that fucking puppy love look from your eyes"
"What are you saying Adelrik" a sob escaped my throat. "Why are you being so rude to me? Please tell me this is all a joke"
"Huh! Why would I care about you!? You are a fucking no one" he says while trying to control his laugh.
"Huh! B-but I t-thought that we ar-re friends and had somet-thing special between us"
At this he no longer controlled and laughed almost menacingly.
"Friends and special!? Are you kidding me? I mean just look at you. You are nothing but a fat, clingy, attention seeking bitch. I was just pittying you because you are a nobody. With that fat body of yours, no guy wants to come near you and to think that we had a chance is comical and insane. So better back off now Kingston, so that I can focus on what's more important" with this he pulled Becca close to him by her waist.
This was not the Adelrik I came to know over the last one month. This was a total stranger. Tonight I just coudnt reach him. He not only broke and shattered my heart but took a piece of mine. He took away my trust. I always had the habit of giving too much to people and I think that it just backfired upon me today. I should have feel anger, should have felt pain, but I coudnt feel anything. There was just this feeling of hollowness in me. Numbness is all I could feel at that moment. But whatever happens, happens for a reason right? Maybe I am unfit for raltionships and friendships. But the worst part of all this was that after hearing and witnesseing all this i couldn't bring myself to hate him. A part of my still believed that he would sober up and tell me that all this was a sick joke and he didn't mean any of it. If my presence disgusted him then I would definately walk away. I would never be a burden on the man I came to love. But I would never forgive nor forget Adelrik Daron ever.
I have never been humiliated like this this ever before. He did not only broke my heart for someone to piece it back together. No. He totally took it away and poisened it.
It was eerily calm and silent just like it is before a storm avails. I looked up into his eyes and in a surprisingly calm vice said "goodbye Adelrik Daron. I was really nice meeting you and falling for you. I hope to never see your face in future." With that being said I turned around and walked away.
That night I not only walked away from Adlerik but also my old naive self. As soon as I came in the open, Nic came running towards me with tears in her eyes. Her makeup was all smudged. She did not say anything but just hugged me tight and held me close. I let it all out in her embrace. Everything that happened tonight hit me with full force and I coudnt keep all of those tears in me anymore. I clung on her as if my life depended on her. We just stood there in each other's embrace and cried our hearts out. When I looked up I saw Luke and Matthew by the patio.
Luke's eyes held guilt, regret and sadness while Mathew's eyes were glistening with tears. But I didn't go to them. They were my past which I had to forget and move on from. I have them a sad smile and walked away with Nic's hand in mine.
That night not only did I lose someone but Nicole also lost someone who could have loved her and made her happy. And she did all that just for me.
