After the breakfast conversation settled, Ember, still inhabiting the body of Elora, ventured outside into the garden. The crisp morning air filled her lungs, and the vibrant colors of blooming flowers greeted her, their delicate petals swaying in the gentle breeze. As Ember strolled along the garden path, she allowed herself to be immersed in the beauty that surrounded her. The scent of roses and lavender wafted through the air, teasing her senses and invoking a sense of tranquility.
She trailed her fingers along the velvety petals, marveling at the intricate designs and the way the sunlight danced upon them. The world seemed to come alive in the garden—the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, and the soft murmur of a distant fountain creating a symphony of nature's melody.
As Ember walked deeper into the garden, she discovered a hidden alcove, adorned with a stone bench nestled beneath a canopy of climbing vines. The leaves created a dappled shade, casting enchanting patterns on the ground.
Taking a seat on the bench, Ember closed her eyes, allowing the serene atmosphere to envelop her. She sought solace in the stillness, hoping to find a connection to her forgotten memories amidst the tranquility of nature.
As she breathed in deeply, the fragrant scent of the flowers mingled with her thoughts, and fragments of emotions washed over her. A mix of joy, love, and longing seemed to swirl within her, evoking a sense of familiarity yet still remaining elusive.
With her eyes still closed, Ember let her mind wander, reaching out to the depths of her being, searching for a glimmer of her true self. Images flickered in her mind's eye—whispers of laughter, the touch of a gentle hand, and the warmth of an embrace. They were like fragments of a half-remembered dream, fleeting but filled with emotions that tugged at her heart.
Lost in her thoughts, Ember failed to notice a figure approaching until a soft voice broke through her reverie.
"Elora, is everything all right?"
Startled, Ember opened her eyes to find Charlotte standing in front of her, concern etched upon her face. Her younger sister's eyes mirrored her own, a hint of longing and curiosity evident.
Ember managed a small smile. "Yes, Charlotte, I'm fine. Just lost in thought."
Charlotte took a seat beside her, their shoulders almost touching. "Sometimes, the garden has a way of making us ponder, doesn't it? It's like nature's invitation to explore the depths of our hearts."
Ember nodded, appreciating her sister's understanding. The connection between them felt genuine, transcending the limitations of her lost memories.
"Charlotte, I need to ask you something," she began, her voice tinged with a blend of apprehension and hope. "Have you ever met a man named Alexander? A man who was, perhaps, very dear to me?"
Charlotte's eyes widened with surprise, a mix of curiosity and concern etching her features. She studied Ember's face for a moment before responding.
"Alexander? Indeed, the name sound familiar. Why do you ask?" Charlotte replied, her voice gentle yet tinged with curiosity.
Ember took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before continuing. The weight of her forgotten memories hung heavy in her heart, urging her to uncover the truth.
"I believe he was my lover. The maid said I received a letter and I was heartbroken of it's content so I rode a horse and that's how I got into an accident." Ember confessed, her voice trembling ever so slightly.
"You never told me that you have a lover. Did you tried finding the letter?"
"The maid said I burned it."
