Ember's steps felt heavy as she made her way back to her room, each one filled with the weight of her shattered dreams and unfulfilled love. The sounds of laughter and music from the garden party faded into the distance, drowned out by the storm of emotions raging within her.

Entering her room, Ember closed the door behind her, seeking solace in the familiar embrace of solitude. The tears that she had held back throughout her conversation with Alexander now flowed freely, as if a dam had burst, releasing the flood of pain and heartache she had been carrying for so long.

She sank onto the edge of her bed, the weight of her emotions threatening to consume her. The room, once a sanctuary, now seemed to hold the echoes of a love that had slipped through her fingers. The memories of tender moments and whispered promises hung in the air, a painful reminder of what could have been.

Ember buried her face in her hands, her sobs shaking her fragile frame. She mourned the loss of the future she had envisioned with Alexander, the dreams that now lay shattered on the floor of her broken heart.

There is a soft knock from the door and a woman calling Ember's name. When Ember did not respond, the door swung opened.

Marie's heart sank as she witnessed Ember's tears. She hurriedly approached her, concern etched across her face. "My lady, what happened?" she asked gently, her voice filled with empathy.

Ember tried to compose herself, wiping away her tears with a trembling hand. "I... I had a conversation with Alexander," she managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper. "It was... painful."

Marie reached out and gently touched Ember's arm, offering her comfort and support. "Oh, my lady, I'm so sorry," she murmured softly. "Is there anything I can do for you? Would you like some tea, or perhaps a moment of solitude?"

Ember appreciated Marie's kindness and nodded, her voice still quivering. "Yes, tea would be nice, thank you, Marie," she replied, her gratitude evident in her tone.

Marie led Ember to a nearby sitting area in her room and quickly prepared a tray with a steaming cup of tea. She handed it to Ember, who clutched it tightly in her hands, seeking solace in its warmth.

Ember took a sip of her tea, allowing the soothing liquid to calm her frazzled nerves. She took a deep breath, steadying herself.

With time, Ember's tears dried, and a newfound strength emanated from within her. Marie, ever loyal and supportive, helped Ember regain her composure and restore her appearance. She delicately smoothed out any smudged makeup and arranged Ember's hair with care.

"Thank you, Marie," Ember said, her voice filled with gratitude as she glanced at her reflection in the mirror. "You always know how to make me feel better, even in the midst of such heartache."

Marie smiled warmly, her eyes brimming with affection. "It is my honor to serve you, my lady," she replied softly. "Your resilience inspires me, and I will always be here to support you."

As Ember rose from her seat, she took a deep breath, summoning her strength. With a determined expression, she looked at Marie. "Let's go back to the party," she said, her voice steady. "I won't let this heartbreak define me."

Marie nodded, a glimmer of pride in her eyes. "You are truly remarkable, my lady," she whispered, her voice filled with admiration.
