Ember sat in her room, lost in her thoughts, her usual vibrant spirit dimmed by the weight of her emotions. As she stared out the window, the sound of a gentle knock on her door drew her attention. Marie, her devoted maid, entered with a concerned expression on her face."Good morning, my lady," Marie greeted softly. "I couldn't help but notice that you seem a little downhearted lately. Your sadness weighs heavy on your shoulders."
Ember forced a smile, appreciating Marie's attentiveness. "Thank you, Marie. It's been a challenging time, and I'm trying to find my way through it."
Marie stepped closer, her eyes filled with empathy. "My lady, may I make a suggestion? Perhaps what you need is a change of scenery, a little respite from the city. Have you considered visiting your grandparents' estate outside the city? The countryside air and the peaceful surroundings might do wonders for your spirits."
Ember's brows furrowed as she contemplated Marie's words. The thought of leaving the city and immersing herself in nature's embrace held a certain appeal. "You know, Marie, that's not a bad idea. I haven't visited my grandparents' estate in a long time. It might be just what I need."
A glimmer of hope flickered in Marie's eyes. "I'm glad you're considering it, my lady. The estate holds so many fond memories for you, and the change of scenery could offer a chance for reflection and rejuvenation."
Ember nodded, a sense of anticipation growing within her. "Yes, I believe it's time for me to take a break."
Marie's smile widened, relieved to see Ember open to the idea. "I'll make the necessary arrangements, my lady. We can prepare for your departure in a few days. I'll ensure everything is taken care of so that you can fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of the estate."
Ember walked down the familiar hallway, her footsteps echoing softly against the polished marble floors. She approached her father's study room, the heavy wooden door looming before her. With a gentle push, she entered, finding her father immersed in a pile of documents and books, his brow furrowed in concentration.
"Father," Ember greeted, her voice laced with warmth and longing. "May I have a moment of your time?"
Lord Harold looked up, a tired smile gracing his face as he set aside his work. "Of course, my dear Elora. Please, come in and have a seat. What's on your mind?"
Ember stepped further into the study, the scent of leather-bound books and aged parchment enveloping her senses. She settled into the plush armchair near her father's desk, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence.
"Father, I have been feeling the need for some time away. I would like to visit our grandparents' estate for a couple of weeks."
Lord Harold listened attentively, his expression thoughtful. "I understand, Ember. The estate holds a special place in our family, and I believe it can provide the tranquility and solace you seek. However, I must ask, have you considered the timing of your visit and any potential responsibilities that may need your attention here?"
Ember nodded, her gaze meeting her father's with sincerity. "I have thought about it, Father. I will make sure to fulfill any pending obligations and ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities before I leave. I believe this time away will ultimately benefit not only myself but also my ability to contribute effectively when I return."
Lord Harold leaned back in his chair, his eyes filled with understanding. "If you believe this trip is necessary for your well-being and growth, then I give you my permission to visit our grandparents' estate as long as you like. Take this time to reflect, find peace, and return to us with renewed strength."
