I received a message from our Team Manager congratulating me for being the Best Setter of the season. More messages flooded my phone, confirming the news, but I still couldn't believe it.

"Hello baby?" I said when I picked up a call from Jema. "You're more beautiful than the morning!" I greeted her.

"Good morning, Best Setter!" She answered. The morning got better when I heard her voice. "Congrats ha!"

"Thank you! Sa totoo lang hindi pa rin nagsisink in sa akin."

"Own it kasi deserving ka. Nakakaproud!"

"Lalo ko pang gagalingan. Mas inspired ako ngayon eh."

"That's my girl!"

"Did you just call me your girl? Yikee! Kinilig ako dun!"

"Expression lang yun. Ha-ha!"

"Samahan mo ako sa awarding please? Nandoon din si Luigi so pag wala ako sa tabi mo, siya na muna bodyguard mo."

"Ha-ha. I'll try to resched my appointments. I want to be there for you."

I went to Katipunan to visit Deanna and let her practice drive again.

"Deans, I have a few questions. Answer me honestly, okay?" I said when she took over the driver's seat.

"Jema, hinding hindi ako magsisinungaling sa'yo unless may ipaplano akong surprise. I promise!" she replied, glancing at me then back at the road. "So what would you like to know?"

"Does it bother you that my ex is a setter too?"

"Ha-ha. No. I'm sure you liked me and your ex for reasons other than us being setters."

"Of course! Super hot mo kaya and super bait pa."

She pretended not to hear me. She hates hearing compliments at all.

"Wait... do you have a secret fetish on volleyball setters? Coz that's weird."

"Wala noh!"

"Ha-ha-ha! Next question please."

"Eh do you think rebound ka?"

"Wala pa nga sakin ang possession eh. Loose ball pa kasi."

"Ginagamitan mo na naman ako ng basketball analogy."

"I don't think I would be a rebound. Kaya nga we're taking things slowly di ba? Kung pace ko lang susundan, for sure naka-fastbreak na tayo. Matagal mo na akong sinagot."

"Iba talaga confidence level natin!"

"Syempre. Hindi pa lang talaga ako confident sa driving ko. "

I put on the right turn signal. I guided her hand on the steering wheel as she turned the car.

"Uy nag-improve ka na kaya sa driving mo."

She kept my hand with hers on her lap. "Kaya ko nga one hand oh. Yung isa dito lang."

"Focus!" I pulled my hand away from her. "Kapag magaling na magaling ka na tsaka na ulit."

I winked at her and she just pouted.

"Now I wonder why you asked those questions. Nagbasa ka siguro ng social media comments?" she asked.

"Napabasa lang," I answered. "Ewan parang nahihiya ako bigla na sumama sa awarding."
