(Deanna said)"To positive thinking and smiling despite all the negativities in the world," Jema said, raising her wine glass. She looked at me, squinting. "Para sa'yo lalo 'to Deanna Wong. Ngiti lang. Ang ganda mo kaya..."
Hearing it from a person who had been through worse, I returned her a smile. Our glasses clinked for probably the tenth time--I already lost count. We were about to finish the bottle with our final sips.
My gaze was spinning so I laid flat on the floor. I was trying to reach for my phone when I accidentally knocked off a glass. I covered my face as the pieces scattered all over. With the adrenaline pump, I stood up and attempted to clean the mess.
"Deans! May dugo!" Jema said pointing to my neck. She prevented my hand from touching my wound. "Wag mong hahawakan. Baka may bubog na naiwan."
With her hand still gripping mine, she guided me to the bathroom to run water on the wound. She then took out the first aid kit from her bag.
"Baka masakit..." I protested.
"Magdadahan-dahan ako," she assured me. Her face was nearer to my neck this time, blowing air as she disinfected my wound.
"I want you to kiss me," I let it out but decided to retract. "I mean baka kiss lang ang katapat ng sugat ko."
"Lasing ka lang!" Jema said.
But it was not the alcohol talking. I wanted her. I only want her.
"Aray!" I reacted as she applied more pressure to the cut.
"Malayo sa bituka 'yan oy." She covered my wound with bandaid.
"Masakit pa rin!" I pouted. "Sinabi ko na kaya sa'yo 'yong magpapagaling kaagad diyan!"
I closed my eyes, waiting for her mouth to reach mine. But it didn't. I felt her soft lips on my neck. Before I got the courage to lift her face up, she had gotten away.

(Jema said)I woke up to the sunlight piercing through the window. That's when I realized Deanna and I dozed off while talking and laughing last night. I couldn't help but smile when I found her arms wrapped around me. I stayed there for a little longer before we are both conscious and awkward again. It was not easy shaking off our worries and fears about getting back together.
"Deanna, gising!!!" I screamed when I noticed it was already nine in the morning. Our team was scheduled to have brunch at ten.
"Hiiii..." Deanna answered, inspecting the room. "Nakatulog pala ako dito. Pasensya na sa abala."
"Wala 'yon. Ikaw kaya naabala ko kahapon."
"Tara breakfast?"
"May team brunch tayo ngayon. Nakalimutan mo?"
"Oo nga pala! Aabot ba ako kung uuwi muna ako?" She looked worried. Our team has strict policies on time management.
"Hmmm... baka malate ka. Dito ka na maligo. Pahiramin na lang kita ng damit."
"Okay. Thank you."
"Una na ako ha."
"Uy wag naman. Di ko kakayanin." She took my hand and held it close to her chest.
I raised my eyebrow. "Bahala ka nga diyan."
Deanna didn't let go of my hand so I had to pull her to the bathroom.

(Deanna said)I stopped myself when Jema entered the shower and had to let her hand go. Taking that as a hint, she closed the curtain.
