Rubik's Cube

Pairing: Krystal/Amber

One-shot (AU: College Kryber)

Synopsis: Krystal and Amber meet for the first time. Right.

Rubik's cube

It's the first day of classes, and that means chaos, at least for Amber. She's not really the outgoing type of girl. Instead of attempting to "mingle" with so many people in the activities' fair, she'd rather sit next to a tree, solve her Rubik's cube and stay there for hours. And now she's doing just that- sitting by herself, on the grass, quietly.

It's been almost the end of the day (the sun is starting to set) when suddenly, a long-haired brunette sits next to her (more like settles next to her).

Too close.

The pretty brunette looks like she's been running (or hiding from someone), what with the sweat dripping on her forehead and her heavy breathing. (Amber doesn't know why she just thought of this girl as pretty when in the first place, this girl disturbs her antisocial bubble).

"You okay there?" Amber says casually, pretending to focus on her rubik's cube when just seconds ago, she's staring at the girl.

"Yeah...yeah." Pretty girl replies, still panting.

Minutes pass and they just continue to sit next to each other, not talking, by the way. Amber can't describe the feeling but one word hits her mind:

Right.

This feels right.

Being here, sitting with this stranger.

It all feels right.

And she doesn't have an idea why.

Suddenly, pretty brunette speaks again (and Amber could tell that the girl's mouth almost touches, literally touches her ear).

"Thanks." The girl whispers. This time Amber turns and looks at the girl.

She's even more gorgeous up close and face to face.

"For what?" Amber isn't sure why they're whispering but whatever.

"For letting me stay here. Sitting here with you." The girl smiles (a smile that makes Amber feel like they've known each other for a long time now...or that they were connected in their past life, sort of soul mates thing- Amber's never cheesy but surely, this thought of hers right now is cheesy as hell) and stands up. She looks down on Amber and says:

"I better go."

"Okay." Amber feels a bit sad (but of course she won't show it). She didn't even know the girl's name.

Before walking away, pretty brunette (that's what Amber decides to call her) snatches the rubik's cube from Amber's hand.

"Hey! That's mine!" Amber stands up but the other girl continues walking away.

Without looking back, the girl replies: "And that paper on your hand is mine."

Amber looks down on her hand and is surprised to see a folded piece of paper! Pretty brunette must have slipped it in while snatching the cube. Amazing.

Written on the paper are cell digits with a note saying:

Hey Rubik's cube. Call me.:)

And under the note is a smaller note:

I'm Krystal btw. You get your toy back when I get your name, OK?

And Amber can't help but smile.

But a rubik's cube is not a toy.

When she goes back to her dorm that night, her roommate Min is watching television. Min is nice. Even though they've just met two days ago and Min has an obvious addiction to this K-pop something.

"Yah, Amber look at this, the members of f(x) will attend our school this year!!! Omo, omo, omo this year will be totally awesome! Ahhhh!!"

Amber, who's mostly tired with her day doing nothing (except, of course, meeting a mysterious gorgeous girl whose name she now knows) does not pay much attention. Besides, she doesn't even know who f(x) is. She's more interested on the small paper pretty brunett—Krystal, has given her.

"That's nice." She replies to Min absent-mindedly. She retrieves another rubik's cube from her drawer and starts solving it again.

Should I call her now or should I call her tomorrow?

"Aishhh." Min huffs because of not being able to share this excitement with someone who understands. She turns up the volume and continues watching. The reporter starts talking about f(x):

"Good news for those studying in Dangkok University. F(x) members Luna, Sulli, Victoria and Krystal will be enrolling to their school this year to further their training on arts! They just arrived today and had a short fansigning on campus except for Krystal who was reportedly hiding from the cameras and was not seen on campus all day. As of now, their manager told us that Krystal's fine and is now back on f(x)'s apartment near the university. Krystal Jung is considered the fan favorite in f(x) so some fans were sad that they didn't get to ask for her autograph today..."

It takes long seconds for the name to register on Amber's mind. The volume is too loud for her to not hear it.

Krystal?

Krystal?!

"Krystal?!" She abruptly stands from lying on the bed and the rubik's cube almost slips away from her hand because of shock.

"Yah?! What's the problem? Why the sudden shouting of my idol's name?" Min asks, a bit annoyed at Amber for distracting her from watching f(x) news.

Amber doesn't hear Min's whine, though. She's too inside her head to hear a thing right now.
