[jungkook's pov]

i laughed, hands fumbling for my car keys and the other waving a goodbye to the leftover party goers. i shook my head, attempting to lift some of the weight of the fatigue off of my body, my eyes watering as a yawn ripped from my mouth. slinging my jacket over my left shoulder, i unlocked my car and swung the passenger door open, placing my jacket on the seat and slamming the door, eyes blurring as i spun around to make my way to the front seat. my eyes began to sting, head starting to throb. i pressed my forehead against the steering wheel, groaning as the stabbing pain got more and more painful.

after a few moments of silence, i heard the muffled buzz of my phone. with a disgruntled sigh, i lazily shifted my arm to grab my phone from beneath my jacket. i squinted, the bright screen cutting through my splitting headache.

jimin has been gone for a while. come home and help me find him. promise to drop you to your apartment after, as long as you don't have a girl with you.

get home safe.

i scowled, noticing how caught up with jimin my brother still was. i rolled my eyes and leaned over to look through the glove box, only to find the last paracetamol and a mini water bottle with the minimal amount of water pooled at the bottom. i shrugged, tipping my head back and swallowing the pill with the slightly sour tasting water, making me stick out my tongue and furrow my brows. throwing the bottle carelessly behind me - letting it become the back seat's problem - i scrabbled for the key slot, finally inserting the key into the hole and twisting the key aggressively and breathing a sigh of relief when the engine purred and rumbled.

"maybe i should.. stick around for a little longer," i mumbled, wiping my hands over my face. i glanced at the time, praying for clear and empty roads as i made my way home.

revving the engine once or twice, my mind was slowly numbing and my expression was bleak. nevertheless, i pulled my car out of the parking lot. the roads were smooth sailing, brain lagging but still remembering the route home. seeing the light turn red, i harshly pressed on the brakes, eyes widening at how long it had taken for my feet to press down on the brake. again, i wiped my face, breathing a sigh of relief as i noticed how empty and quiet the roads were. watching the blur of lights and the tones of the sky melt into one, alongside the drenched stench of cheap perfume that was hanging thickly in the air made my head spin just that little bit more. i decided to crack open the window, allowing the cool breeze sift through the air and clear my head slightly.

i noticed the eerie silence, fingers flicking the radio on and hearing the quiet mumbles of some talk show. the light finally changed to green, making me shift to first gear. i decided to open the window fully, slinging my arm out and letting the wind engulf my right arm. with no cars around, the road seemed all too quiet - deserted. i began changing radio stations, the old men and their grumblings just becoming annoying background noise. eventually, after tuning past all of the talk shows, a slow electric guitar's twang ringing out and being swallowed by the evening air. i laughed, cringing at why i was even going back home so early. my eyes momentarily flicked to my phone and i noticed the blink of a notification. i reached for my phone, eyes fixed on the road. another red light stopped my journey - thankfully.

i snickered, enjoying the friendly atmosphere between me and my brother at this point, but a lurch in my gut reminded me of the foreboding tension for when i return and see jimin. the thought of the shorter male made me grit my teeth, forehead creasing and pinching uncomfortably.

i noticed the turn that i needed to take, hands gripping the steering wheel and swinging the car around the corner. the anger seared through me, bubbling rage remembering the mistakes that jimin had made in such a short time of us knowing each other. i pressed down on the accelerator, car roaring down the road.

i hadn't seen the person step out into the road.

i sighed, picking at the open packet of crisps that i had found on the table. i rolled my eyes when i heard my phone ring, expecting jungkook to complain that he was going to be late and that he doesn't care - something along the rebellious language he attempts to use.

i pressed the answer button, expecting to hear the laughing of girls or slurred strings of words, but instead i was greeted with panicked huffs. i raised my eyebrows, wondering if it was a prank call, but the sobs that ripped through the receiver made me wonder what had happened.

"jungkook? hey, jungkook -," i tried, eyebrows furrowing more as i heard his breathing get more erratic and his shaky pants breaking and cracking up the speaker. i could feel the unsettling panic seep into the air and settle uncomfortably.

"junghyun, i'm scared, i'm scared i just - i -," jungkook tried, words choking and suffocating him.

"ok jungkook, breathe for me, what happened, are you ok?" i attempted to reassure, leg beginning to bounce as the nerves began to sink into me as well.

"i called an ambulance, i swear it was an accident and it... it happened so fast i couldn't -"

"jungkook! what happened?"

"i...

i ran over jimin."

ok um i kind of died for a bit, but i'm here now!

how was this chapter? i think this book is either gonna have the last chapter as the next one or the one after next....
