When Richard finally walked out of the hospital, my arm around his waist and his arm around my shoulder, I was so happy. They said he'd be okay as long as he didn't try to overwork himself or be in too many stressful situations for a while, he slept the entire time we drove. I stared at his sleeping face, thinking that he's going to have these scars when we get married in the next two months. I didn't care, I didn't mind, as long as Rich was there I could care less if he came there head to toe in dirt and grime.
We laid in bed, he was curled against my side with a hand on my clothed chest.
"Jared," he whispered. I took my hand and carded it through his hair, acknowledging that he spoke.
"We're not postponing the wedding are we?" He asked and I took a breath.
"Not unless you feel we need to hun," I said and he nuzzled in closer.
"No I think I'll be okay," Richard sighed in satisfaction, "I don't know how healed up all my cuts and bruises will be."
"I don't care if you don't," I said, "nothing needs to be picture perfect as long as you're there Rich."
"I love you," Richard mumbled.
"Love you too," I smiled and stilled my hand. I started to replay the conversation of me and Richard having kids, what would that be like? I put my hand on his shoulder and closed my eyes, would we adopt or find a surrogate? If we had a surrogate who would that work, I'll research it later. I imagined a little girl with light brown-dark blonde hair and bright green eyes, only a few months old, wrapped in a pastel pink blanket. Her eager hands were grabbing and tugging at my shirt. I imagine Richard helping a hobbling, year old girl, walk forward a few steps. Both of them are smiling, Richard is sitting on the floor and saying something about being mistaken for a grandpa.
...
I turn to the mirror and then back to Jensen, he smiles and I adjust my sleeves.
"You look nervous," Jensen says and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah no shit," I spit at him and he raises his hand in a surrender. I sigh and apologize.
"No it's alright man I get it," he says and claps a hand on my shoulder, "nothing can go wrong I promise."
"I'm worried I'll have a panic attack Jen," I said quietly, "I can feel it bubbling up and my jaw is all tight."
"Jared," Jensen said sternly, "Richard is going to walk up to you down the aisle with his father. And all that's gonna happen is the guy reads all these fancy love words, Y'all will kiss and your family and us will clap, we'll cheer and it'll be happy. Nothing will go wrong, just breathe."
"You're right I just- it's hard," I said and looked in the mirror. I breathed and closed my eyes, it's okay.
"I'm going out there pray for me," I said and Jensen flashed me a smile. I walked out and stood at the altar, my heart beating a million times per second. We decided against groomsmen and bridesmaids and best man, it didn't feel fair and it just didn't feel necessary. I wasn't sure how long I was there, all of time had slowed down until I saw a sheepish looking Rich walk down the aisle. His arm was linked with his father's, they were sharing some kind of moment on their own. The story of Rich coming out to his dad spiraled in my head, Richard's eyes were a little bit puffy and red. Not enough for anyone to notice, he got next to me and he flashed me a smile. His eyes were welling up and so were mine, I turned my back to the 'priestess' who was to our left and held Richard's hands in mine. It was my wedding I could cry...
"Family and friends we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the joining of Richard and Jared in marriage," the girl behind my back began, "with love and commitment, they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife. You may exchange rings." My heart froze in my chest, I was nervous and I had a very shaky and unsteady hand as I slipped a ring on Richard's finger.
"With this ring, I marry you and I give you all the treasures of my mind, my heart, and my hands." I said and I think he noted how shaky I was without saying anything out loud.
"I give you this ring as a symbol of my love," Richard said calmly which didn't reflect the mess of tears threatening to spill from his eyes, "I give you all I am and take you as all you are." Fuck I couldn't do this, I shifted my feet slightly and Richard exhaled. He was smiling and I was smiling too, I was happy and overwhelmed.
"I hereby pronounce you husband and wi-husband," the woman faltered and everyone chuckled a little, "you may now kiss." I blinked and moved forward to press my lips against Richard's as if it were the first time, my hand tangling in his hair and his arms both going around my shoulders. The sounds of everyone screaming and clapping were barely audible to me, I was too focused on Richard.
"Congratulations to Jared and Richard Padalecki-Speight," she said and I assumed she walked off. I finally pulled away to let the shorter man breathe, I met his eyes and started to laugh and all the welled up tears spilled. I gathered him into an embrace, he wrapped around me and I felt his tears on my clothes. We broke apart and I wiped my eyes with the back of my sleeve, he laughed and wiped his own eyes. I swallowed and smiled at him, we walked hand in hand outside. When we got outside, there was food and family and friends, it was going to be a fun few hours.
...
"Hey Jared," Richard whispered and giggled.
"Yeah?" I hiccuped drunkenly.
"I's very drunk," Richard giggled and I laughed a little. The uber driver even giggled a little, I laid my head on Rich's chest and smiled.
"Did y'like the cake?" I slurred, "it was sooooooooooo good."
"Yeah we shoulda saved some," Richard said and I nodded.
"All the people ate it all," I said and he put his hand my hair.
"Jared I'm old," Rich said and I looked at him, "my hangover's gonna be bad."
"'S okay I-" I hiccuped, "I play doctor for you."
"M'kay," Richard said and his eyes closed. I felt his hand moving and I yawned, I remembered we couldn't sleep because we had to get out of the fucking car. I left Rich to sleep while I laid there, straining my eyes open.
...
"Come on," Richard pulled the house keys from my hand. He threw them on the ground and pushed me against the door, I smirked and some of his hair fell in his face. His lips smashed against mine, they tasted like a blend of chocolate and beer. The kiss was sloppy, all tongue and teeth as he ground into me. Our bodies were finally slotted together, his thigh between my legs and his other leg wrapped around my left leg. He had his arms wrapped around my neck and mine were around his waist, he started to kiss down my neck and on my jaw.
"Rich fuck," I breathed out and looked around. There were cars on the street and I saw where he had thrown the keys in the mulch, it was at least 12:00 AM on a Saturday- Sunday if you count it as AM.
Richard grabbed my hardening member through my jeans, I moaned louder than I wanted to when he did it.
"Can we go inside Rich?" I managed to breathe out, he pouted and gave me a puppy dog face.
"There's people outside and we're in a city area," I said and he bent over to pick up the keys, "thank you."
"Sure big baby," Richard crossed his arms as I opened the door. He rushed me in and threw me down on the couch, I yelped and he smirked.
"Better?" He asked and I nodded, I tossed the keys onto the table and he practically jumped on me.
"Hey Jared," Richard whispered as he unbuttoned my suit jacket.
"Hm," I hummed and he smiled wide. A genuine happy smile, he slid the jacket off from my shoulders.
"You're my husband," he giggled and I rolled my eyes.
"Finally," I joked and he smiled the happy smile again before capturing my lips in his again.
