I opened my eyes and wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans. Closing the lid on the piano, I turned towards my friends.

We were gathered in the school's music room to hear my new cover. And by looking at their beaming faced, I could tell they loved it.

"So?," I asked, "I have done just half of it, but how is it so far?"

"It's amazing, as always," Amelia commented.

"I'm so proud of you," Hayley said.

"Yeah, same," they all agreed.

"Way to go little girl," Shane ruffled my hair.

"Not the hair," I grumbled.

"Don't be so dramatic. They're okay," he said, wrapping an arm around Laura's waist and going out.

"It's almost the end of study hall, aren't you coming out?," Care asked me as they all started to leave.

"Yeah, um, you go ahead. I'll be there in a minute," I gave her a reassuring smile and closed the door.

I sighed and laid my head against the piano; it's coolness flowing in me and calming my nerves. I stayed like that for a while, thinking about the messages I read on my moms phone. I wanted them to be a joke somehow, to not be true. But I had seen it with my own eyes and the image had been glued to my mind. I debated on telling Tyler, amd decided it was better if this stayed with me.

Grabbing my bag, I made my way to my next lesson: Maths.

Yes. I know. We all despise Maths.

I don't though, I dont know why.

I just liked Maths. The teacher though? Yeah... not so much.

We started our new topic 'Probability' and our teacher; Sir Shade, solved question after question on the board. He read the questions from our text book and when he proceeded to the next, he stammered and paused, stumbling over the words.

"A box of sweet contains 8 toffees, 12 liq.... liqo.... liq. Does anyone know how to pronounce this?," he looked at the class expectantly but noone replied.

"Very well, liqorice then," he said.

"It's pronounced liqorish," Laura whispered from behind me and we both stifled a laugh.

"Miss Katherine, what is so funny?," Sir Shade turned his attention towards me and so did all the heads in the class.

"Nothing sir," I replied.
