A few days had passed since Evan had asked me out on a date and the day scheduled was just around the corner. With every passing hour, my excitement kept growing and I couldn't help but feel giddy.

I had gone over the details of my dress a thousand times with my friends; just like now.

"Your black dress would look perfect," Amelia said.

"Yes, yes and what about the shoes? Should I borrow your wedges Mia?," I asked.

"Noo, no heels. Your black slip ons would look just fine. You don't want to be uncomfortable with heels on," Care answered.

"Yeah, um I guess."

"Don't worry, you'll look awesome," Hayley assured me.

"Thank you," I smiled. "Um, where's Nat?," I questioned, looking around.

"Probably with Tyler. They seem close these days," Amelia replied.

"Excuse me, what? Is there something going on?"

"Nothing that we know of," Care said.

"I'll go check," I stated, getting up.

"While you're at it, please grab Nate from the locker room," Amelia called after me.

I noticed Tyler sitting on the bleachers in the ground, with Natalie by his side. He had his head buried in his hands whilst Nat patted him on his back. It didn't take long for me to realize that Tyler had just told Nat aboutwhat we've been going through. And I felt guilty for not being there for him. His own sister, who had witnessed all of it was not there for him.

Unnoticed by them, I made my way back to the cafeteria.

I came back home to find it unusually peaceful. Finding my mom in the kitchen cooking lunch, I asked about dad.

"He left for one of his tours again," she replied.

"Why don't I remember that?," I muttered under my breath as I climbed the stairs to my room.

"What you doing there,?" I asked Emily who was sprawled out on my bed with her stuffed toys spread out in front of her.

"Playing," she replied casually, not bothering to look at me.

"Katy, why do mom and dad keep shouting at each other? I don't like it when they shout."

I was thrown off guard by her sudden question but I quickly regained my composure.

What was I supposed to tell her?

"Um. They're, um, I don't know Em. But they'll be fine. Don't worry, okay?" I gave her a kiss on the cheek.
