-The Vanishing Of Will Byers part III-

Purple. That color has always meant something to Pine. When she was young, she loved the color purple. However, now it means many different things. Perhaps, the thing the color purple reminds Pine of the most is pajamas, and that's what she was putting on now. First she slipped on the shirt, short sleeved with an embroidered pattern of flowers on the front. Next, she stepped into the pants. They were a set, both a light lavender color. They were a little big on Pine, they weren't hers, and they were Mike's older sister Nancy's. That's where she was staying for the night, with Mike and Nancy. Thorn promised her he'd stay a little while, after all, she knew him better than either of them. Of course, she trusted them because Will was friends with Mike and Thorn was friends with Nancy.

Pine came out of the bathroom and went to Nancy's room. That's where she would be sleeping. The Wheelers didn't have a guest room. Mrs. Wheeler had said Nancy could sleep on the couch but, both Nancy and Pine agreed they could manage together. After all, Nancy and Pine had immediately taken a liking to each other, also, Pine didn't want to be alone.

"Do those for you well enough?" Nancy asked as Pine walked in

Pine only nodded in response.

Pine left at 8:00 the following morning. The night had been surprisingly uneventful, as the rest of the day ended up as well. Pine went back home, sneaking through the backdoor. She was still quite tired and immediately fell into a dreamless sleep, for which she stayed in for hours. When she woke at 5:00 her radio was playing Jessie's Girl and a cool breeze was blowing in through the window. Pine got up and shut it, a few flecks of white paint chipping off as she did so. Turning back to go to her bed she felt a sharp pain in her side.

"Ahh!"

She looked down to see she'd walked into her desk, courtesy of still being quite unused to the placement of the furniture in the room, having moved it around a lot when she first got here. On the desk was a box. It was filled with countless drawings, all drawn by Pine. She decided not to bother with the box and went back to bed, not to wake up until morning.

The sun shone brightly through Pine's window, waking her up like an unspoken alarm. Unable to go back to sleep, Pine got up. First she went to her closet and got dressed, next she went down to the kitchen to get breakfast. She could hear Ruth on the phone in the living room so, she quickly made some eggo waffles and retreated back to her room. While she sat on her bed she looked around. Despite having rearranged the room many times, she still didn't like it. It was 11:00, Ruth was already at work, so it wouldn't matter if Pine made and racket. She got up, and studied her room once more. There, on the wall just opposite of her bed, as Pine was cleaning, she bumped against a built in shelving unit. Pine wasn't expecting any of what happened. The shelving unit moved like a door, exposing a secret room. It wasn't big, but it was perfect for her. Like her room, there was white carpet and purple striped wallpaper and there was a singe window with blinds. Pine ran back into her room and started going through the boxes she had still yet to unpack from the move. First, she pulled a random air mattress she just happened to have into the room and blew it up. Next, she pulled a cork board in and hung it up on the wall. After that, she brought in an old typewriter she randomly had. It didn't take long to set the room up and once she was finished, she admired her work. Then, suddenly, the box on her desk caught Pine's attention. She picked it up hesitantly and went back into her hidden room, closing the trick door behind her.

The pile inside the box must have contained thousands of pages, but, all the same, Pine started taking them out to look at them all one by one. None really looked very interesting, to Pine, in the beginning. There were several duplicates, of the drawing Pine first drew the day before and thought she actually saw. That was something she drew quite often. But, after she went through a layer of those, the drawings seemed to get more intriguing. One, was of Pine's desk in Mr. Clark's classroom. Another was of a microscope in Castle Byers. Then there was a drawing of the creature Pine thought she'd seen behind her when she was walking with Thorn, then Blue's Hardware, the clock in the store, the hidden room she was in at that exact moment, Ruth yelling from the front door of her house last night, her and Will walking to Castle Byers, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas playing Dungeons and Dragons in Mike's basement, two dice rolled on the number seven, a slice of pizza, Will and Dustin on bikes, a Demogorgon piece from Dungeons and Dragons, Will alone at a house, Will terrified with a gun in his hand. Pine looked up from the drawings, realization hitting her. She'd drawn these things back in New York, then she didn't know what this stuff was or who these people were but, now with all the pieces together and the strong inferences she was making in her mind... She examined the drawing of Will with the gun a little more. There was a clock reading 10:00, the lighting was dark, and straight behind him... the real life Demogorgon! This couldn't be a coincidence. Pine jumped up. She looked at the clock, it was 9:45. She started running. She had to get to Will, she had to.
