Annabeth P.O.V
Thalia slept on the day bed in my room. I rushed over to her, having jumped out of the bath and thrown on a kimono. My wet hair stuck to my shoulders.

"Thalia," I whispered, shaking her shoulder

"Thalia," I whispered, shaking her shoulder.
Thalia sat up in bed.
"Annabeth," she said, rubbing her eyes, "What in Tartarus?"
She looked at the terrified expression on my face and gasped.
"What's wrong?"
"I went to take a bath," I told her, "I got into the bathtub and there was a spider the size of a cat."
Thalia laughed at me.
"You're not still scared of spiders?"
"And why not? They're disgusting creatures."
"Spiders catch and kill flies and mosquitoes that carry disease."
"La la la ... not listening. Could you please go in and kill it for me?"
"No, I'm not killing a spider for you. Woman up and kill your own damn spiders."
I had been scared of spiders since I was seven when my family stayed in a cabin near Lake Placid and my room turned out to be infested with the things.
"Alright," I groaned, picking up my copy of Pride and Prejudice and walking back into the bathroom.
My bathroom had chinoiserie wallpaper, black tiles, and lights which looked like Chinese lanterns.

The spider had crawled out from under the sink. I slammed Pride and Prejudice down on the repulsive insect and continued to do so until it was just a greasy stain on the tile, which I wiped up with a piece of toilet paper and flushed down the drain.
I hung up my kimono and got back into the bath, hoping I wouldn't have to meet any of the spider's friends. Ever since the incident in the cabin on Lake Placid, I had nightmares about spiders crawling all over me.
After filling the tub with some more hot water, I rubbed some peppermint oil into the temples which helps with my headaches. The smell of peppermint is also known to keep away spiders. My favorite type of soap was lemon scented, another arachnid deterrent.
"Did you kill the spider?" Thalia asked me as I walked back into my room.
"It's gone to the great web in the sky," I replied.
I had changed into a blue and grey printed dress.
