SEASHELLS

He was like a hermit crab

Scared to be touched

Suffocated by the land

She noticed his scars and every scab

She knew his fear yet still gently clutched

Onto his abused, calloused hand

She was able to coax him out of his shell

He began to trust and fear less

Things didn't seem so scary with her by his side

It was nice while it lasted until soon his world fell

Their joy was snatched and replaced with sadness

She sacrificed herself to save him from the tide

He wakes up everyday now

Hoping to see her by chance

He knows she's in a better place but misses her so

Then he remembers her smile, always crinkling her brow

How she thanked God for meeting a hermit crab-like man, named Lance

Now her love remains in his heart, never letting go
