We walk into the Great Hall, me going to the Slytherin table and Harry, Ron, and Hermione going to the Gryffindor table.
The Sorting Hat comes to life in Headmistress McGonagall's hands and starts to sing its song:
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"The second through eighth years all clap respectfully while the first years all look a bit sick with fear. I smirk when the fist name is called. "Slytherin!" the old thing shouts.
The kid looks relieved and saunters over to our table. She sits down and is greeted by a few second years.
By the time the last name is called, I'm starving! But I wasn't ready or expecting when the Hat calls out one more name...sort of.
"There is a boy who was wrongly placed.
With his mother's eyes and his father's face.
He sits with the Lions, brave and strong, but that is not where he truly belongs.
His place is with the Snakes, cunning and sly.
I believe it's time I name this guy... Harry Potter!"
The hall falls into a stunned silence for a few seconds. After that, complete and utter chaos.
I see my mate staring at Headmistress McGonagall in fear and confusion and I growl. I don't like it when he's scared. At all.
McGonagall gives him a gentle smile and gestures to my table. Harry gives a meek nod and slinks to sit next to me.
"Hello love. Any idea why you were re-sorted? Not that I'm complaining mind you." I whisper into his ear, startling him out of his thoughts.
"No idea. I'm okay with it for the most part. I'll miss Hermione and Ron, but I definitely won't miss Ginny. I'm mostly glad about it because I'm now in the same house as you." he replies, shrugging, glancing at the Gryffindor table.
I blush at his words and start eating. "You're cute when you blush, Draco." he whispers to me. I whip my head to look at him, and see that he is eating and talking to Blaise and Pansy politely.
I huff and think, "I'll get him for it later." Happy with my new plan, I finish my meal and wait for the rest if my house to finish as well. "This is going to be fun." I think with a smirk.
