I couldn't think straight. Everything was just really overwhelming for me right now. I put a movie off of Netflix onto my tv. I tried giving all my focus and attention towards it but ended taking a nap instead. I guess that's the only other thing that could make me forget for just a little.
I fell asleep for a little over an hour before being woken up by the sound of someone entering the house. I wasn't even really alarmed just curious.
"I have food." Josh's voice brought me to my feet. I ran to him arms open. I squeezed him into a tight hug and he copied wrapping his arms around me.
He was dressed in black pants and a black tank top with a plaid shirt wrapped around his waist. He looked pretty good compared to me. I had my pink pajama shorts and a over sized twenty one pilots T-shirt.
I snatched the take out bag out of his hands and looked inside to see Burger King Chicken Nuggets and fries.
I literally felt a bold of excitement run through my body. I didn't notice how hungry I was until I saw my beloved chicken nuggets and fries.
"These better be all for me." I said jokingly with a slight smile on my face.
"Yeah, take it I bought it all for you." A small grin playing on his face.
It was so so nice to see a smile on his face.
"Well thank you." I said quietly enjoying the real smile on his face, not a fake one.
"Can I sit?" He asked looking towards my bed.
"Yeah of course" I said moving things, giving him space beside me.
I sit down beside himand open my food bag.
"Want to watch a movie?" He asked.
"Yeah sure."
A few seconds of awkward silence goes by.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about anything? Anything at all?" I asked
"Yes, please can we just watch a movie? I need to just not think for a little bit." He said.
"Okay, I pick the movie though."

After josh and I watched the movie he got a call from his mom telling him he needed to come home. I finished my chicken nuggets and went downstairs to find my mom sitting on our sofa watching the TV.As soon as she noticed me coming down the stairs she turned down the TV and gave me a warm smile. I could see tears in her eyes.
"Hey ma, are you okay?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine," she said giving me a smile that did not reach her eyes.
"What are you watching?" I asked turning the corner to see the TV screen.
"Nothing, dear."
She struggled to turn off the TV.
I looked at the TV and saw the news.
And a picture of Lydia.
I almost broke down there and then.
"Baby, I'm so sorry," My mom started to say.
On the TV was a picture of Lydia and a title that read:
One girl shot and killed in a school shooting.
I felt my heart slowly breaking.
I just had this really good day with Josh and now this?"Lyida, a high school student was shot and killed right in this school." The news woman said.
"Witnesses say that the sounds of screaming and crying as well as the loud bang of the gun were terrifying." She went on to say.
"Baby, maybe you should go upstairs." My mom said.
I listened and without another word I was in my bedroom.
Sobs became to howl out of my mouth and tears fell down like a waterfall.
I fall down on my bed with an angry sigh. I hit something hard on my bed. I look down to see my phone on my bed. I see that I got a message.
Hey, sorry this is kind of last minute but Lyds funeral is in 2 days.
It was from an unsaved number who wasn't in my contacts but I assumed that it was Jayson.
Where did he get my number from?
Jayson?
Yeah. Sorry I should have started off by telling you who I was.
Its okay lol.
Hey by the way, would you be willing to give a speech at the funeral? It would really mean a lot to me and my family.
Me? Give a speech? Well I guess that it kind of make sense because I was her best friend. Im not sure that I should give that speech.
As if Jayson could read my thoughts through a screen he texted me:
She would have wanted you too.. Please?
I couldn't say no to a mourning brother. Especially Jayson.
Of course.
I typed it really fast and went to the washroom to wipe the tears off my face.

A few hours since Jayson and I texted and I'm still excited. All he asked me was if I could preform a speech but I couldn't help feeling honored in a way that he asked me. Yeah she and I were best friends and knew each for a long time but still.
I heard a knock on my bedroom door.
"Come in." I say.
"Hey baby," my dad said.
He was still in his work clothes and I could tell he was tired. My father works very hard to provide for our family. He doesn't feel like my mom should ever have to go above in beyond to keep this family intact so he does. Our whole family appreciates him and looks up to him.
"Hi."
"How are you?"
"Better. Josh came over and we just talked and he brought food." He sat beside me and I laid my head on his shoulder.
"That's good. How is he?" He questioned genuinely. Lydia and Josh have been a big part of my life and are always my house. So my parents have a good connection with them and treat them like their own when they come over.
"He almost... he almost did something bad to himself yesterday. He said he really loved her." I felt my dad's heart beat faster as he sighed.
"Tell him he can always come and talk to me. Keep and eye on him and just make sure he doesn't get that emotional again." He got up and kissed my head. "And if you ever get to that point, please, don't let yourself loose control."
I nodded at him a little too agreeing. I didn't want him to question this and stress over my health.
"I won't."
