Chapter 12: the dance

It's dance day and boy has the week passed. I am so happy, I cannot wait. I quickly rush to my first class, science. I can't believe it, I hate science and not even that can stop me from grinning like an idiot. We all sit down as Mr Bennet starts the roll call.

"Emily?"

"Here,"

"Harry?"

"Here,"

"Olivia?"

"Here,"

After about 8 more names

"Thalia?"

"Here,"

Mr Bennet starts writing something about an experiment on the board when the office lady starts talking over the P.A.

"Would Thalia Marvolious please go to the principals office now please, thank you,"

Why does she always sound so pissed off? Livvy and Lillian look at me in distress. I get up and walk out the door, as soon as I do I get two texts saying exactly the same thing:

Lillian: what did you do?

Livvy: what did you do?

Me: I have no idea. Wish me luck xx

I head up to the front if the school and into the principals office after knocking lightly.

"Don't worry Thalia, you are not in trouble. I just have a note to give you,"

He passes me a note from Mrs Bolasco asking me to go to her office.

"Thank you Mr Brown,"

I walk out and head back towards the guidance councillors office. I open the door and in there I see Mrs Bolasco.

"Sorry about the note but I didn't want your friends to think you needed counselling,"

Yeah well now they think I'm a reckless teenager that's starting street fighting and tagged a wall or something.

"That's okay, not to be rude but why did you ask for me to visit you?" I ask politely.

"Well I heard you asked my son Sam to the dance tonight." I nod approving what she said, "well a few weeks ago, he applied for a boarding school. Sadly Thalia, he will be leaving on Sunday,"

My face falls, he has saved me so many times, laughed with me, taken my side and now he is leaving? I know we just met but I don't want him to leave.

"Oh," I sigh staring into the distance, "I see,"

I start to walk back to the door, my eyes starting to gloss. I run out the door. I run as far away as I can, I have lost so much, yet I feel selfish to cry over him leaving when I should be happy for him.

I decide to confront him. His school is only a 10 minute walk, but 4 minutes the way I do it.

I reach the office and ask the woman, to call Sam over the P.A.

She looks at me curiously.

"I'm his twin sister, I moved to San Francisco, but I'm here to take him out for lunch,"

"Oh sorry dear, you don't have a note do you?"

"No sorry, I just booked into my Motel down the road. I only have one night here and he is going away tomorrow. I am so clumsy," I lie oh so slyly.

"No deary that is fine I will do it,"

She calls him over the P.A, he comes up to the office with two girls on his arm laughing. I take a step back so he can't see me.
