Chapter 16: my first day

I am having a mini heart attack, what do I wear on the first day of school? Do they have special laws or rules? Are half tops in? Will they hate my piercings? No makeup? What is too much for them? Do they like bangles? Do they have... Uniforms? Ew, no, this is America, duh. Stop thinking of Australia.

It is 8:00, school starts at 8:45 and I am still in my pajamas. Felix walks in.

"What are you doing, your not dressed?"

"I don't know what to wear," I whisper embarrassed

"If you wear anything like you did yesterday, you will fit right in, okay? Now stop procrastinating and hurry up!"

He leaves and I close the door. I go through the cardboard boxes and finally find my grey half top with the gold words 'tough love' written across it. I match it with my black zip skinny jeans and my red converse. I walk out with confidence, until I am met with a frowning Mrs Wilson.

"Child I am not letting you go to school without a nice jacket, it can get very cold in those air conditioned classrooms," I smile and rush back to the spare bedroom and grab Sam's leather jacket. Sam.

"Stop daydreaming and get in the car, mums packed your lunch in that black studded bag of yours now hop in," Felix teases once again.

I hop in and the car starts, Felix driving his green Mercedes gull wing. Mrs Wilson has already taken the girls to school, and me Wilson is at work. I pull down the door and gawk at the interior.

"You like?"

"Yeah, but I prefers motorbikes,"

"You mean bad boys?"

"I said motor bike, not the cliche who usually owns one,"

Silence

He smirks ahead "Thalia?"

"Yeah?"

"You're something you know that?"

"So I've heard," thanks to Sam.

He soon pulls his car into the driveway of the school, it had an old but elegant look about it. A sign says Ashley Taylah boarding school. Wait! Boarding school?

"A boarding school?"

"Yeah, it is known for its strict rules, most people call it a military school because of it's history but it's not that bad, anymore. Like all boarding schools though, boarding is an option. Mum thought that if you wanted to be more independent and didn't really like us,"

"Then boarding was an option? To get away from you? Is this why Andrea making such a fuss about my room?"

"Yeah," he sighs and looks at me, "you're not actually thinking of boarding are you?"

"No, I really like it at your place,"

"Good, let's go shall we?"

I nod and smile towards the car park. I notice a separated crowd. Nerds on bench, girls who just want to fit in, standing on the grass checking out the jocks under a big old oak. The popular girls are giving bitchy looks towards the other girls, because those girls are naturally beautiful and have self respect, everything a guy sees in a real girlfriend.

I see a few guys wave at Felix, jocks. Of course he is popular, how did I not see this before. He parks and gets out the car, but instead of walking over to his friends, he goes over to my side. I wind down the window and place my bag on my lap, I am not going out there to meet his 'friends'.

"Coming?"

"I'm good,"

He smiles towards his friends and a slut-type, probably his girlfriend. He snatches my bag and walks towards his friends. I jump out of the car and race to Felix. I jump on his back, making him fall to the ground. He falls face first, all his friends can't hold in their laughs and it looks like the sluts already hate me. I snatch the bag right back, and stand up.
