Chapter 13: My step dad's true colours

After the dance Sam dropped me home. My step dad was furious, he keeps saying he is going to send me to a boarding school. I know he won't because mum won't allow it, I hope.

It is Saturday morning, Andrew went to work and Mum went shopping. Drew came over to watch a movie with me. After half an hour of convincing him not to watch Friday the 13th, we watched the first season of The Vampire Diaries. We were going pretty well, I hadn't mentioned anything about last night. Because, as far as he knows, I don't know a thing.

After a fair few episodes, it entered a Stephen/Elena kissing scene. I was throwing up in my own mouth, I mean.... No offence Vampire Diaries, but I am so shipping Delena.

Drew pauses the television and turns to face me. He looks like he is ready to start a very well prepared speech, until his eyes land on my chest. He is staring at the key necklace.

"Where did you get that?" He asks more intrigued than annoyed

"This?" I pointed to my chain, "a friend," I mutter, I haven't yet told anyone about Sam and I, and I really don't want to tell Drew, besides he will be gone soon.

"Well, it must have been a really good friend," he says

"Why?"

"Because," he grabs hold of the key, making me go stiff while he looks at the metal, "this key is made of pure silver,"

I gasp, I knew that Sam was a giver, but pure silver? I am going to have a talk with that boy!

Drew's mother is a jeweler, and he has been working at her jewellery store since he was 13. His mother would always teach us how to, mould, engrave and tell the difference between a fake and real stone or metal.

"Not to mention the engraving has been done by my mother," his face becomes still as he reads it, obviously not too happy, he looks into my eyes. "Thalia, who gave this to you?"

"It was a gift from my boyfriend," I say, so I don't have to tell him it's Sam

"Tyson? Your still dating that jerk?"

"God no!" I scream, "he wouldn't buy me this sort of thing if I begged him,"

"Then who?"

"Like I said, my boyfriend. Why do you care so much?"

"You have a boyfriend." He sighs, looking like a wounded Bambi.

"Yes I do,"

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asks sounding even more hurt.

"Because if only happened last night, when he gave me this necklace," I blurt, oh my god. I just told him who it was! If my brain could punch my mouth, it would have done several times by now.

"You mean, that you are dating my half brother Samuel?"

I look at the ground, waiting for him to explode, "yeah," I sigh, feeling like I just got caught with my hand in the cookie jar.

"Oh, I need to go and er... Clean my room," he leaves my house slamming the door closed.

Later this afternoon, Andrew finishes work. I haven't seen Layla all day. She and Andrew had another row, although this time it was different. This time it was about someone. I get changed into some dark blue skinny jeans and an INXS half top. I quickly put my hair up and tie my converse laces. I rush down the stairs, ready to visit Sam on his last day before he goes.
