Chapter 21: Yes he threw a plate at my head, such fun
So I'm awake again. I look for my surroundings, its all too familiar, white walls with dent marks, machines beeping in your face every ten seconds, and a chair next to my uncomfortable bed. The whole room is dark and plain, the smell and feel of emotion gives me a sign, I'm in hospital, again. Am I really this stupid? Why do I have to ruin everything? I hear a raspy cough from my left, Felix. He smiles at me and approaches my bed, sitting next to my waist. I smile in return and relax a bit.
"Hey sunshine, how you feeling?"
"I don't know? Why am I even.." My voice trails off when my eyes land on my wrist, there is a white bandage across it, I look at my other hand, no cast. That's right I was booked to have my cast removed today. All the memories are coming back to me, vividly.
I, I cut myself. This can not be happening, not again. They said it had gone, that I was lucky and hopefully never self harm again. I haven't done that for years, the last time was when I was 12, and no one turned up to my birthday party because they were all busy. That day my mother tried to cheer me up by taking me to an old fashioned diner I loved. When we had entered, all the people I had invited to my party were there as well, but they were there with my sister for her birthday party instead. I cried all week and stole my dad's razor blades, by the end of the month my thighs and wrists looked like they had been attacked by stray cats.
"Thalia, are you okay?" Felix asked grasping my other hand.
"Where's you're mum?" Tears start to prickle in my eyes, blurring my vision.
His expression softens as he embraces me brotherly, "she is your mum too, you know?" He whispers and lets me go. "She has gone to get the girls."
"Sam? Winter?"
"Sam was hyperventilating so he got some air and, Winter is at the airport,"
"The airport?"
"Yeah, you remember Evan and his brother Cameron?"
"Yes, I do."
"They are moving to France to live with their sister," he explains waiting for my reaction.
"Oh, I hope Winter sent my farewell," I smile, I am happy for the both of them meeting their sister, but deep down I'm a little upset Evan didn't tell me he was leaving I mean what are friends for right?
"She did, now dad and the doctor want to speak with you, do you want me to stay?" I notice the desperation in his voice, but what about what Cameron told me?
"You can stay." I blurt. I guess he is family anyways. His smiles grows just as the doctor and mr Wilson walk in. Where is Sam?
"Hello, miss Thalia," the doctor greets me and places some documents on the table beside me. "You have lost a lot of blood, to the point where you blacked out, take it easy for the next few days but the main thing you need is rest. Whether you go to school is up to you and your guardians."
I nod understanding, "how long have I been here?"
"Well you fainted yesterday afternoon it is now 12, so you should be fine and your body is on the road to recovery. There is a prescription in there, but apart from that, you all know what to do of course because of Felix and his history, maybe you can help her survive through it?" He is now looking at a pale faced Felix who had frozen still. What did they mean by 'his history'? "I must go now and you can leave whenever you are ready," he leaves swiftly and closes the door.
"Felix?" I start, "what did he mean by you and already going through all of this?"
He sighs and looks down at the ground, "look Thalia can we not do this now, we need to focus on you, not me and my.." He stops and walks out the door leaving just me and Felix's dad.
