How long was I a pig? Well thankfully, the Noble Phantasm, while powerful, wasn't a match for Herme's gummy vitamins.. either that or the Noble Phantasm just wore off after a few hours..
Either way, my experience as a pig was quite traumatic for me. Never before had I felt so small and vulnerable.. not to mention the whole part where every time I opened my mouth the sound "Oink" came out instead of words kinda was infuriating.
And to further extend my trauma, when I turned back from my Servant form into human form, I found myself back in the same hairstyle, clothes and makeup that Circe's stylist had put me in..
As Percy sailed the ship and Mordred stood guard over Circe below deck, Annabeth helped wash the makeup off my face..
"Where are my clothes?" I asked Annabeth. "I.. I need my clothes.. this.. this isn't me.."
Annabeth sighed. "Honestly Saber.. I think you look really pretty in that.. granted the high heels and the way they made you talk isn't you.. but, I really think there's nothing wrong with you being a girl now and then."
"Being a girl.." I muttered.
"Yeah.. it's a nice thing to be a girl.. you're not in Camelot anymore.. Keep this style for a bit, see how it suits you.. just, not with high heels.. "
"Or.." I muttered as I burst into my Servant form, and my hair was instantly redone into a braided bun. "I stay like this.. "
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I SWEAR.. I'm going to take you out to do girl stuff when this is all over.. I'll make you see the joys of being female and young. Anyways... I wanted to discuss something."
"Yeah?" I said.
"We're going to be coming up on the island of the Sirens soon."
"The sirens.." I muttered. "As in ladies who sing so sweetly they lead sailors to their death."
"Yeah.. them.." said Annabeth.
"That should be easy enough." I said "Mordred and I have resistance to magic, and I have B class Charisma. Siren songs shouldn't affect us at all... or at least we'll be resistant to it. There's also a bunch of wax candles down in the galley, we can make earplugs for you and Percy.."
"Actually, the thing is.. I want to listen to the Sirens.."
"Wait.. what?" I said, not sure if I heard right.
"The Sirens.. their songs reveal something about yourself that you never knew.. listening to the song brings you wisdom.. and I guess I'm curious to gain some wisdom.." said Annabeth. "What kind of daughter of Athena would I be if I didn't try at the least?"
I frowned, worry going straight through me. After nearly being killed by a spa, a donut shop, a garden gnome emporium, a casino, a chihuahua and an algebra teacher, I was feeling pretty distrustful of singers..
"It's easy Saber, just tie me to the mast, stick some wax in Percy's ears and you'll be fine.. keep an eye on me..
reluctantly, I nodded.
"Okay, we'll do this." I said. "But, we do it on MY terms.. I'm not untying you until we're at least 2 hours away from the Sirens.. and if I feel like you're starting to suffer, I"m plugging up your ears.."
"That's the thing Saber, it'll SEEM like I'm suffering, I'll be begging you to untie me.. But I'm fine.. ignore me.. got it?"
I didn't like it, but I knew once Annabeth had her mind set on something, she wouldn't give up on it no matter how much I argued.
