His Mistress

Chapter 2.

I stood up from the castor I was seated, about to leave when Dr. Alex stopped me and said;

"Damian Felix, you need to be admitted for proper medical checkup, that aside, you need some more days to get over this, I suggest you come stay with me" Dr. Alex said sympathetically.

"Dr. Alex, I'm not in a moribund condition, I'll be fine, it's just a little cut on my neck and it's been stitched. About me coming to put up with you, I think that'd help. Thank you so much" I cracked a smile and then we shook hands together.

"Hey nurse Catherine, go bring some morphines". Dr. Alex said authoritatively.

Catherine was in her late twenties, she had a blonde hair, she looked thick and chubby.

"Hey, Damian" Catherine said with her sweet serenade voice, "here is the medicine, the dosage is on the pack" She spoke softly as she handed it to me.

We got out of the office. Dr. Alex escorted me to the exit way.

"Would you mind if my chauffeur drive you home" Dr. Alex asked.

"Oh. Yeah" I answered with a rush.

"Andy, make sure you drive safe, okay?" Dr. Alex instructed.
"Oh. Lest I forget, here is my card, give me a call on when you'd be relocating"

He tapped my shoulder and bid us a goodbye.

The car moved off jerkily, it was about ten-twelve minutes drive to my house.

I unbuttoned my tuxedo, so I'd freshen up, I realised something was crumpling in the pocket.
I delved my hand in it and saw that it was a letter.

How did it get in my pocket? My brain wandered.

It read;

Alexanderson Novell. Stay away from what would implicate you.
Keep clear. Keep your cool.

I read the letter again;

What could this be? Who could have mistakenly dipped this in my pocket? How come?

I shrugged the thought of it and went to freshen up. I took a cool bath and a long nap.
I gotta get going with life, I said to myself.

I walked down the lane to a bar close by, to ease the unending memory with some shots of vodka.

On a sixpence, something struck my brain déjà vu and the flashbacks began flooding in.
