Zinnia's feet touched the soft grass, and she was jolted out of her little daydream. She turned around to lock the door, taking the silver key on a cord from around her neck and locking the door. She raced to catch up with her guide, who was still walking ahead.

"Rude." She said, jogging up behind him. "Race ya!" She ran ahead of Nick, disappearing momentarily into the woods before Nick ran to catch up.

"Do you even know where you're going?"

"No, but you're being so unhelpful, I figured I would find my way by myself." Zinnia did not slow her pace, Pascal trailing behind.

"Do you realize how big these woods are?"

"Yes, and I also have an amazing sense of direction." Zinnia was lying, as she had never been outside her own home, but he didn't have to know that.

"You're lying." So... maybe it was kinda obvious.

"Fine. But if you continue being so rude to me, I will find my own way." Still not slowing her pace, Zinnia determinedly keeps going.

"So... are we going straight to the school or what?"

"Nope. We need to get to London first."

"Why?"

"Because you need your uniform, wand, and basically everything else."

"So... how am I supposed to pay?"

"Do you have a vault key?"

"I mean... there's a key on my anklet we could try."

"I guess we could try that."

"So how far away are we from London?"

"A few miles."

"I never learned how far a mile was."

"Um, a pretty long way."

"Cool."

The two runaways walked for a while longer before coming to a big tree, filled with red flowers, automatically triggering the image of Zinnia's mother's namesake. Zinnia stopped in her tracks and only four words escaped her mouth.

"This would kill her."

"Who?"

"My mother."

"Wait... your not... an orphan?"

"Why, are you?"

"...no"

"Oh, ok. No, my mother is a businesswoman. She's away a lot."

"Cool."

The delinquent pair continues through to forest until they reach a clearing, where the skyline of London seemed closer-and farther than ever.

"We're never gonna reach it." Zinnia sighed.

"Sure we are." Nick replied.

"I'm tired."

"Too bad."

Zinnia sighed again.

"Fine."   She trudged forward into the clearing and slipped on a patch of mud, landing directly on her behind. Zinnia could hear Nick laugh behind her, and she turned to glare at him but he was no longer there.

"Nick?"

No answer.

"Nick?" I turned the other way, and there was a small black kitten, licking its paws and staring at me.

"Nick? Is that you?" I crawled over and picked the cat up, although it began to claw at the cuffs of my cardigan.  It meowed pitifully and so I put it back down. The moment I did that, it began to shake.

"Um, Cat-Nick? Are you ok?"

The cat- no surprise- didn't answer, but continued to shake, growing larger and more human-like until it transformed into Nick. A Nick who topples face first into the mud, to be exact. Zinnia tried her best to stifle her laughter and managed, for about five seconds, then burst out laughing.

"Karma much?" She giggled, before stepping over him and continuing down the meadow. She stopped a little way in and picked up a flower, looking over at him.

"How did you turn into a cat anyway?" She asked.

"Born with it."

"Cool."

"Hey, where did  your cat go?"

"Pascal?"

The furry orange cat came yowling over to Zinnia, followed by a fluffy white bunny. Zinnia laughed and picked the cat up, cuddling it and plucking out some thorns. Nick finally got up and began walking towards them, Nudging Zinnia into walking, too.

"Are we there yet?" Zinnia asked.

"For the fiftieth time... actually yes."

Zinnia squealed and ran to the nearest shop window, which happened to be selling flowers.

"I want the purple ones!" She said, then ran to another window, this one selling stuffed animals.

"I want the chameleon!"

Zinnia continued through the town until she came across a broken sign with the messily scrawled on words; Crimson Diamond. The place did not look very diamond-like, the windows covered in soot and dirt and the door missing a hinge. She tried to back away, but a hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward, into the restaurant.

It was dimly lit, with dusty shelves filled with bottles with strange names. A few haggard looking people in dark velvet and ivory brooches sat scattered across, sitting in rickety dark brown chairs at rickety dark brown tables. Zinnia backed up to the door but Nick pulled her through, and they could feel cold eyes staring. A man appeared behind the bar with a dirty goblet in hand.

"Come for some Dragon Brandy, Nick?" He calls out.

"Every time, you ask. My father may enjoy it, but I have no intent on trying it." Nick glares at him and continues through, Zinnia still trailing behind. The walk feels like hours, but they make it to the back door and step through, where a steel wall with separate slats greets them. Nick pushed three slats and the door opens to reveal a dark alleyway with cobwebs in every window.
