Riiiiing!

"Hallelujah!" Lee Soomi announced loudly with a grin, packing away books into her already heavy school bag.

She always waited for the last bell of the day to ring with excitement, because it meant that she could finally go home.

It was a Monday, and most of her classmates would go and hang out with their friends after school, like at the park or in a cafe.

But everyone had to be cautious of time.

About ten years ago, they set curfews in place for those under twenty years old to follow. The government claimed it was to 'keep the young safe' but everyone knew that it was just to make their lives easier. Less missing person cases meant less work for them.

The curfew for Monday to Thursday was 10pm and the curfew for Friday to Sunday was 11pm. Inevitably, it was hard to enforce such a rule, which is why so many young people began to rebel.

If you were caught outside by the police past curfew, you could have been faced with a hefty fine, or even taken to the station. It depended on what kind of example the cop wanted to make of you.

The people who rebelled against this rule may have been seen as brave, but technically, they were also idiots. If they weren't caught by the police, they were caught by something way worse.

You see, South Korea has a major gang issue, and everyone knows it.

No matter how hard the government tried to cover up the countless murders, drug scandals and disappearances, everyone knew the truth.

"Soomi!" a voice called out as Soomi was leaving the classroom.

She turned around only to be greeted with the smiley face of Lee Chan. He was in the same year as her, but was slightly struggling with his attendance. Some days he would be in, some days he wouldn't, and some days he would just leave in the middle of class. This caused his grades to suffer immensely.

"Yes, Chan?"

"Have you fixed that English test score yet?"

"Of course I have, I changed your 26% to 87%. You're ever so welcome" Soomi replied in an unbothered manner, which soon turned into a small grin.

"You're a life saver." Chan sighed with relief, patting her on the shoulder. "I'll catch you later." He announced, before exiting through the doors.

Soomi chuckled and shook her head. This was something she did regularly, and it gave her the reputation of Robin Hood. She had taught herself a few years ago how to hack into computers, phones, and anything connected to the internet. Of course though, it was on a small scale.

She would normally get requests to hack into the school's computer network and access answer sheets, change test scores and the like, in return for nothing. Thus, she was like Robin Hood. Stealing from the rich, or in this case the teachers, and giving back to the poor, the students.

She supposed she could have charged money such a service, but a lot of the kids who attended her school came from poor backgrounds, much like herself.

For once, Soomi was going to go straight home instead of loitering around the city with Eunji, her best friend. She hadn't been in class that day, so she assumed her friend was sick.
