Be Different

In the modern-day world we are in, it's kind of hard to stand out. Peer pressure and popularity will try to drag you in the wrong way, but you can't let that happen. Don't be afraid to lead your own life. It's yours for a reason, not society's. It always breaks my heart to see people change just to impress people. 

When I was younger, my cousin was my very best friend. When I'd visit the town she lives in, we would do everything together. She was always excited to see me because it was very seldom. We only would get to see each other about once or twice a year. One year when I went to visit her, she was different. I could tell. She didn't want to talk to me or anything. She was on her phone 24/7, and literally told me straight to my face that I was too weird to hang out with her, that I'd embarrass her in front of her popular friends.

I was so heartbroken. She changed for the worse. She hasn't had a conversation, or hardly even a glance since then. Now she dropped out of school, has a bf and a baby at the age of sixteen.

I just wish I could've helped her before it was too late.

One of the most important things I've learned in life is to be yourself, don't be afraid to say no or be your own person. Don't be who the world wants you to be. Be who you want to be.
