Rosa

"So you just left him there?"

I shrugged and took a gulp of the whiskey Sophia had handed me. After I had sent Dominic the message telling him to grow up, I had stormed back to my flat, grabbed my things and pushed Chris out. He had watched me speechless, arms outstretched as I got into my car and drove away. I had waited outside Sophia's flat until she had returned home from work. Callie was away for a few days with work so Sophia had suggested I stayed. I had agreed and spent the next few days relaxing and trying not to think about everything.

Sophia finished early on a Tuesday so had come home and made an Italian feast. We ate, laughed and joked around. After the dishes were done, we spent the next couple of hours just talking and I finally told her what had happened.

I told her about Dominic. Well, not all about Dominic. I didn't need to see her eyebrows rise or her lips push together in a 'motherly' way as I told her about the strange guy I'd met, who did drugs and his weird sister and how he made me feel....Like I was going to jump out of a plane without a parachute.

"God, Chris is such an arse!" She declared and flung herself into a chair. She raised her glass to me in a toast before taking a sip. "Thank god I like women."

I heard my phone vibrate in my bag. I ignored it. I kept drinking, accepting glass after glass. I could feel all the muscles relax in my neck and shoulders. Sophia started to slump further down in her chair and I grinned. I got up to help her and she batted her hand at me.

"No..no...no. I can manage," she said as she pulled herself up and swayed to the bathroom door. I heard the light switch on then I heard her vomit.

I winced in sympathy, Sophia wasn't someone who handled her drink well. I could drink most guys under the table, my mum could do the same despite her petite frame but sometimes Soph just had to smell the vapours and she was dancing to all the old pop classics.

I heard her flush then I followed her to her bedroom. It was decorated in warm blues and creams. She flopped onto the bed and I tucked her in, opening the window slightly for a cool breeze and leave a bucket next to her. She mumbled something as I placed a bottle of water on her beside table.

"Sorry?" I whispered, brushing her hair back into a bobble.

"Love you," she mumbled and patted me softly on the forehead.

I chuckled and walked out the room, "Love you too, Soph."

I sat back down on the sofa with another glassful of whiskey and looked out of the window. The lights flickered and I knew, though I couldn't see it in the pitch black, the river ran beneath me. It was oddly calming. I propped my feet up against the table and sipped at my drink.

My phone started to vibrate repeatedly. I ignored it. It started again. I frowned. Bloody Chris.

I reached over and pulled my phone out my bag to see multiple missed calls from him and one from Dominic. Should I call him back? I pressed my phone to see the messages, lots of patronising ones from Chris and one from Dominic.

I paused before I opened it. Did I want to see what he had to say? I knew I'd regret it but I opened it.

Rosa, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have acted like that. Especially after everything you've done for me. I'd like to take you out, to say thank you and to make up for it.

He wants to take me out? Everything we have done up til then has been slightly odd and interrupted by others. I wanted to see him. There was something that was pulling me to him.

You can take me out. When? I replied.

He messaged back instantly.
