In the middle of a valley, a portal appeared and out of it came Knuckles, Shadow, Silver and Blaze. "You think this is where Sonic might be?" asked Blaze. "Well, Tails' locator said he was on this planet." Answered Knuckles. "All we have to do split up into two groups." "That's good enough for me." Interuppted Shadow. He was about to walk off when Knuckles stopped off. "Where are you going?" asked Knuckles. "I'm finding Sonic. What else do you think I'm doing?" replied Shadow, annoyed. "You mean we're finding Sonic." Blaze said. "Like Sonic always said, when we're a team, there's no such thing as 'I'." Reminded Silver. "Yeah, yeah! I've heard of that piece of crap before and I couldn't care less if Sonic told you to jump off a cliff." Shouted Shadow, angrily. He turned toKnuckles. "Now, get out of my way!" He pushed Knuckles aside and walked away. "He really needs to work on his people skills." Said Silver. "I'll follow Shadow just in case he does anything wreckless." Said Knuckles. You two go find Sonic." So, Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze and Silver split up to their two groups to begin their search.
Some time after being punched by the giant, Sonic woke up to find himself in a room of darkness. "Where am I?" asked the confused hedgehog to himself. "Am I dead?" "Do not fear, hedgehog." Boomed a voice. "You are safe. Your consiousness has brought you to my realm." In front of Sonic appeared a crystal turquoise dragon. "Who are you?" asked Sonic. "I am the Chronicler." Said the dragon. "And you have arrived at a dark time in this land." Sonic looked at the Chronicler confused. "A dark time?" he said. The Chronicler nodded. "Your mind is filled with questions and I shall explain everything as best as I can." Said the Chronicler. "I guess I might have time for long stories." Replied Sonic. And so the Chronicler began his explanation.
"Many years ago, darkness spread throughout our world like a plague. The prophecies said that every ten generations, a purple dragon would be born to stop the darkness. The purple dragon would be able to weild many abilities that none other dragon can't. For ten generations, the first guardians waited for the day when the purple dragon would rise. After waiting for so many years, the first purple dragon was born. His name was Malefor. The guardians taught him the powers of fire, ice, electricity and earth. But soon, Malefor's wouldn't stop growing, the guardians had no choice but to prevent him from completing his quest. Outraged, Malefor became the leader of his own forces. Those who defied him were killed. The elders were able to trap him into the Well of Souls, where he would remain there for eternity. Or so they thought. Another ten generations had passed and Malefor's forces were sent out to kill the next purple dragon. Luckily, the elder dragon guardian of fire named Ignitus sent the egg that carried the purple dragon within. All of the other dragon eggs were destroyed except one. Gaul, Malefor's second in command and the King of the Apes captured the last egg. Gaul took the hatchling to Malefor who cast an evil spell upon the hatchling, automatically boosting her age and granting her uncommon powers. She was known as Cynder, the terror of the skies. She became in charge of Malefor's forces and was told to get the power crystals from the dragon elders to resurrect Malefor. Then, the purple dragon, Spyro was able to stop Cynder and turn her from her evil ways. A year later, Spyro and Cynder went missing
for three years. That was when you came in.""OK. I guess I get the whole story." Replied Sonic. "But why did I come here anyway?" "It was said that the purple dragon would have allies." Answered the Chronicler. "And it seems to me, that you're one of them." "But I'm not from this world." Sonic said. "I know. But I believe that Spyro might need your help, if he is to fulfill his destiny." The Chronicler replied. "So, you're going to need this." The Chronicler opened a box and gave Sonic a sword. "This is the Sword of Warfang." Said the Chronicler. "It contains many elemental powers that are yours to command." Sonic grabbed hold of the sword. "Nice!" commented Sonic, smiling. "You must go. Spyro needs your help." Said the Chronicler. "Alright, time for some action." Said Sonic. With that, Sonic vanished from the Chronicler's presence, returning to his unconsious body.
