As the dragons used all their powers against the Destroyer, Sonic and the others stood and watched, wondering how they would stop the Destroyer. "How are we stop that monster? We don't have any wings." Said Knuckles. Sonic saw that one of the Destroyer's arms was holding onto a high cliff nearby for support. "Guys! That arm should help us to attack." Sonic replied. Quickly, Sonic and his friends moved to the cliff. They carefully stepped onto the arm and ran up to it until they were on the creature's back. Once there, they found that this part of the back looked like an ancient ruin. Then the grublins appeared and started to attack. "Time to split up." Ordered Sonic. Espio threw his shruiken at two grublins at the face while Sonic sliced them into pieces with his sword. Silver and Blaze used their powers to destroy any grublin that was in their way. Knuckles just killed the grublins by punching right at their faces and breaking their limbs. When one grublin was trying to attack the echidna from behind, Knuckles quickly avoided the grublin's attack and tore off its right arm. Knuckles grabbed the grublin in a headlock and shoved its decapitated arm right through its mouth. Shadow grabbed his sniper rifle and aimed at a grublin that was attacking Blaze. "Say goodbye to your head." Shadow mumbled, as he pulled the trigger and shot the grublin at the head. Then an archer grublin shot a dark energy blast nearby Shadow's position, knocking the black hedgehog off the edge. The others saw Shadow fall and quickly rushed to see if Shadow was hanging on the cliff. He wasn't. But then Sonic and the group saw Shadow riding on Cynder. Relieved, Sonic and the others continued their attack.
Meanwhile, Shadow was forming a plan. During his battle, he noticed some purple crystals on some certain points of the creature. Those crystals had to be the monster's weak points. "Cynder, could you get close to those crystals?" Shadow asked. "But the crystals are unnatural." Cynder replied. "Don't worry. I have a plan that will take this monster back to hell." Said Shadow. Cynder didn't like the idea, but if it was going to stop this monster, it was worth a try. As soon as Cynder got close enough, Shadow used his shotgun to destroy the crystal. The bullets flew and then once they hit crystal, the part of the monster exploded. The Destroyer roared in agony. Spyro saw this as well and flew to Ignitus to tell him about the weak spot. Immediately, the dragons and Sonic's group destroyed the weak spots. When one of the weak spots exploded, it revealed a tunnel. Spyro and Cynder flew into the tunnel while Shadow rejoined Sonic and the others.
In his lair, Malefor was witnessing the battle. "The fools." Malefor smirked. "They might weaken the Destroyer, but they won't stop it. Not when I take control of it." The Dark Master released a mental energy blast at the Destroyer that would give Malefor complete control of the monster, even when the final weak spot was destroyed.
After Shadow rejoined Sonic and the others, a loud explosion was heard. The Destroyer screamed. "The Destroyer is going to self-destruct!" shouted Knuckles, alarmed. "Yes, good observation, Sherlock." Joked Espio, sarcastically. Quickly, Sonic's group and the dragons including Spyro and Cynder left the Destroyer to die. But when they turned round to see the Destroyer die, they saw a different, yet shocking result. "I don't believe it. After all the damage we've done to it, the Destroyer is still moving." Blaze commented, surprised. Then Malefor's voice emitted from the giant creature. "Did you really think you would stop the Destroyer? I have full control of the Destroyer and there will be nothing you can do to stop it." Mocked Malefor. "Man, that guy is getting on my nerves." Sonic growled. "How else are we going to stop Malefor?" Silver asked. Sonic and his group couldn't think of any ideas except for Shadow who was looking at the top of the volcano. "Malefor has full control of the Destroyer. If we get to the top of that volcano in time, we'll try and disrupt Malefor's control of the Destroyer." "That would be a good idea." Commented Sonic "If we we're able to get around that fiery belt." "True, but the belt isn't strong enough yet." Ignitus replied, "So, Shadow's idea just might work. You, Shadow and Silver come along with us." "What about us?" asked Knuckles "It's best you go back home." Said Sonic. "But Sonic, what if you get killed?" Blaze asked. "I'll be alright. Just tell the others, we'll come back in one piece." Sonic answered. "Good luck, buddy." Said Knuckles. "Thanks." Replied Sonic. Shadow activated the Chaos Control to teleport Knuckles, Espio and Blaze back to Earth. "Now, let's go pay Malefor a visit." Said Sonic, as he, Shadow and Silver followed the dragons to the Belt of Fire.
